Coleandra maturity vs Raiola immaturity

And I am not talking athletic talent. Just saw an interview with Coleandra where he was asked about UNLV. Said nothing negative. Had praise and appreciation for his former coach who he called a father figure. Spoke of how difficult it was to leave there. In other words, he said all the right things. He said the things a mature person says. What a humble and decent person says.

Compare that to Raiola’s immature smack talk about Nebraska cornfields and our lack of talent. Even if you think that, out of gratitude for the $millions we gave him and the love we showed him, he should have kept his mouth shut or just mouthed platitudes about being “grateful but it was time to move on”. He said the things instead that an arrogant and immature person says.
I also wonder if the Raiola family as a whole hasn’t poisoned the wells with bitterness. We did fire his uncle after all.

All of our current QBs impress me with their emotional maturity. I’m extremely happy that Kaelin came back too.

He is taking a lot of **** from other people in CFB about his shade on Nebraska.

I would love an honest answer to this question: What more could Rhule and Nebraska have given this kid? Silver platter to an extreme - and still he's ungrateful and immature. Here's the thing: He's not smart enough to realize he just lost the discussion. You think Oregon fans care about Nebraska?

So, who exactly did he impress with his statements? No one. For a back-up QB to dish out crap on their former team - Kid is dumb.

Cornfields? I'd take cornfields over women with hairy armpits, nose-rings and tramp stamps.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Will Oregon be enamored enough by his elite dink-and-dunk ability to make him their guy for 2027? Can they fix his shortcomings with better coaching and talent? Oregon has options. Will Dylan stick if he is told he has to compete for it in 2027 spring/summer. Will he even have that option if the Congress bill becomes law? If he does start for Oregon in 2027, will he do well? And most importantly if he plays against Nebraska, can we win the personal grudge match?

DR would have been fine at Nebraska if he had a decent OLine.

He wasn't mobile enough to survive in Lincoln with that seive in front of him.

The pass protection held up fine at times. He had fifteen yard crossing routes wide open and he couldn't pull the trigger. Large passing lanes and no safeties. He left a lot of yards on the field. Maybe he was hurting, or gun shy because of inconsistent blocking, For what it's worth from an untrained eye.

Dylan Raiola=Harrison Beck
Overhyped and overrated 5 star high school player. He will last at Oregon about one year before moving on.
This overrating happens a lot, which calls into question some of these ratings. Often times what you are getting with a five star QB is a player who has already hit their ceiling in high school. And then they come into a P4 school with an inflated ego that does not match their actual talent.

Exactly. There were many, many, many times when Raiola could have escaped a sack if he had just tucked the ball and run for even 2 or 3 yards. And there were numerous times he actually had open green turf ahead of him but he chose to hang onto the ball and stand like a frozen statue for 3 more seconds until the pocket finally did collapse around him. He is one of our most overrated recruits ever.

And yet here you are commenting on it. You were free to see the post’s title and just ignore it. So wtf dude? Do we really need another comment about how irrelevant comments are if they don’t line up with your comment interests?
Furthermore, it was also a comment praising our new QB Coleandra for his maturity. Which is a topic of interest to many. What kind of leader will he be in the locker room? Team chemistry is a huge deal. Raiola was a drag on team chemistry. I think Coleandra will be a huge step up

He'll quickly find out that he's now a little duck in a big pond at Oregon. Duck pun intended. Not sure who he is trying to impress. We don't have anything against Oregon or vice versa.

Just makes him look like an idiot to the college football world at large. I have a Penn State friend I was talking to yesterday and he said as much. Whatever I guess Raiola will likely be selling insurance in a few years

Never liked Raiola from the start. I'm hoping Coleandra does well though, and he should be easier to root for regardless.

My expectations for this year are in the dirt. If we do surprisingly well, I'll jump on the bandwagon, but otherwise I'm expecting it to be like the last 10 seasons and not worth wasting my time on.

If youre a college football player and the hotshot in the locker room is cosplaying full-time, are you taking that person seriously?

I posted this exact thing in ‘24, so no sour grapes here.

I do agree some in this thread (@RedMyMind2.0 )sucked DR off nonstop for 2 straight years, which makes their about face pretty funny.

Ich habe keine evidence. I base my opinion on my gut feelings on how a locker room responds to prima donas, and on the uninspired product on the field and in the fact that the other players rarely showed any emotion towards Raiola

Sadly I think you’re right. Not once did I ever hear his teammates talk about Dylan the way they all seem to be talking about Colandrea when asked. Granted I’m watching clips from hurdatsports etc.

The one time he finally did it he breaks his leg. Had the first down. Some of that is just not knowing how to take or initiate contact. I didn’t care for TMart’s personality but that kid gutted out most of a season running the ball with virtually the same injury that ended Raiola’s. TMart didn’t really have a high ankle sprain. He had a fractured fibula.

I will actually say DR choosing Oregon shows maturity - the opposite of what brought him here.

Dan Lanning does not f*ck around and absolutely will not coddle DR like our team mom did.

First time in his life he’s not the chosen one. How he responds to that - and not some innocuous question - will be the true tale of the maturity tape.

.. up until the remarks about the cornfield, which I personally did not see the big deal about at all... he hasn't taken shots has he? .He has been nothing but a gentleman as far as I can tell , since he left. Lots of husker fans cannot say the same.

I don't really care at all about DR but everything he said is true. Oregon is beautiful, stunning in terms of a natural environment. I've worked in every county in Nebraska and have visit Oregon many times. Nebraska as a landscape is disgusting, especially the eastern side of the state. Literally a landscape scarred and destroyed by farming for centuries The western part of the state is much more beautiful but not in comparison to Oregon.

Oregon was in the final four last year and continues to build talent. Their head coach is one of the best in the game. They are more talented at every position. Dylan left Nebraska to be a backup and to learn and develop. I don't see that as him being selfish or domineering. I assume some of those "rumors" are coming out because Nebraska got dumped predictably by their only talented player.

Last October he was the leader of the team, we were 6-3, driving to go up on USC to go to 7-3, a possibility to win 9 games. He breaks his leg...people get excited for a more electric backup. We beat UCLA, everybody dumps Dylan...then the bottom falls out and Dylan dumps us. "We didn't want him anyway", "he didn't do that much anyway", "we'll be better off without him". Butthurt comments. He has statistically been one of the best qbs in the sport since he started as a true freshman. It wasn't an 18 year olds job to stand up to his dad or uncle...that was Rhule's job. Rhule and his 10 million couldn't communicate proper boundaries and now the kids is being dragged under the bus.

Unhinged comment. Dylan had 31 TDs and nearly 5000 yards passing at NU with a 70 completion % as a true freshman and sophomore at NU while having multiple OCs in his freshman year and breaking his leg in his sophomore year. HB was 1-10 passing at Nebraska. He completed one pass. Absolutely insane.

Nebraska is so bad, the coaching staff so incompetent that a kid looking to make 2-4 million, break all sorts of records at his dad's alma mater is willing to leave for much less money, to sit as a backup on a good and competent program. This is an indictment of the leadership of NU not the 20 year old who was going to break many records at NU.

The truth will likely come out this year and he will just be a canary illuminating a future collapse like Wandale was...when talented people leave you are in trouble.
