Duke beats us and Plays Texas Western for the championship.
That game whoever played it was going to proclaimed racist. Even tho Rupp fought harder than anyone for integration, He is still labeled a racist. So was our program. I would have loved for Duke to carry that.
We were also the first to integrate SEC football. Didn’t matter. They had their villain.
I was coming to say this.

Beating Duke in the 1966 Final Four was the most damaging win in school history.

Either the 1964 Lima Stadium Disaster or the 1972 Munich Olympics massacre. I love Kentucky too but I can't understand choosing to erase an embarrassing or even hurtful moment for Kentucky over saving lives.

Well, unlike yourself, we’re all horrible people who foolishly thought this was just a fun little message board discussion not to be taken too seriously.

Thank you for sanctimoniously showing us the way.

I would never wish for taking our Final Four victory off the board. I'm not at all convinced Duke receives the smear campaign that was used against Rupp after his passing had they won that game. If I could change one thing in relation to that it seems blatantly obvious to me it would be to win the title game over Texas Western.

I agree. I’d take the title. We’d always end up the villain regardless.

What would it be?

Obvious one: Pitino puts someone on Grant Hill on the shot.
-Pitino says "no" to the Celtics.
-Aaron Harrison hits that wide-open three to give Kentucky the lead in the 2014 UCONN game. I believe that if he hits, Kentucky wins #9. Wisconsin and Laettner were tough, but Kentucky still had to beat Duke in the Final in 2015, and getting to an EE in 1992 was gravy. Still would have had to beaten Indiana and Michigan for a Natty
-Soviet Union vs USA (but I was not alive)
-BS penalties against the Bengals in 2021/2022 SB

My Runner Up: Bo Jackson misses the bus and does not play against the Bengals in the playoffs.
You'd of preferred Cincy losing to Buffalo a week later? or you say that because of Bos career ending injury ? ..... sad as aside from Barry he was the most exciting runner I ever saw play - freak injury on what looked routine.

1972 Olympic gold medal B ball game, I was 13, and remember it well in black and white. I had to think about the Duke and Wisconsin games, and went with the Olympics.

Redsox not blowing the 86 WS.
Sugar Ray losing to Duran.
USA not getting the hand ball penalty kick against Germany in 2002 WC.
Wisconsin more that Duke. Hell I might even take the WV game over Duke. Maybe even the Georgetown FF game over Duke.

Besides, those aren't sports moments. Those are disasters associated with sports.

Nobody mentioning the "Bluegrass Miracle" vs LSU in CWS?

Interesting

One I would add is Mike Ditka not giving Walter Payton the ball inside the 5 yard line in the Super Bowl. How to lose while winning

Bruce Jenner winning the decathlon….. Ouch….

Oh, and the Major League Baseball expansion…. Simply watered down the game….

1.Keith Bogans ankle injury. Sure Crean had Wade, but we were the superior team. Crean is still probably getting tv gigs because of that one game.

2. Dale Brown shoulder injury colliding with the scorers table against Michigan in the '93 Final Four. Downtown Dale Brown was more than a shooter. He was our best defensive player by far. Losing him and then Mash to foul trouble spelled doom for us.
That ain’t no lie! Dale Brown was a “3 and D” dude long before it was fashionable.
