“We are here to win championships. If you don't want to win championships, go to Indiana. Purdue may not be the place for you.” - Purdue AD Tom McClelland.

I don’t think he follows football very much. 😆
If IU had won a natty in FB in 1930, I'd understand..but we're only a SEASON removed. I mean sheesh o' crap

Indiana is a basketball school, and this new AD is a basketball man, plain to see. But he probably had to take a little bit of s.hit, from the Football side, for saying it.

But I feel the same about Kentucky, I would rather have #9, then a football championship, any time.

It's still weird timing - I get it, you're trying to fire up the fanbase, but you're calling out a school that just won the most coveted "championship" in all of college sports, convincingly. I'm sure Painter wasn't loving it.

Far from it.

Part of me does think CBB is a better sport when they are good, but it's been so long I'm starting to forget.
I agree with you. I don’t even really hate Indiana. My age group has never seen Indiana be anything close to relevant our entire lives, so I wouldn’t mind them being good for awhile. They’re far from a rival to me. It’s actually kind of sad to see one of the sports bluebloods (my opinion and I’m allowed to have it) have such an extended stay at less than mediocrity. I understand older fans hating them but anyone under 40 has nothing to hate.

Indiana fans hate Kentucky fans and our university. They will as long as there is a border between the two states. They will hate us, want to spit on us and take every opportunity to disrespect us. Forever.

I was there when Coach ******* Knight slapped Coach Hall upside his head. I was so little, I didn't underetsnad it. But by the time I left that building that day, I sure as hell understood it as a child.

a freaking CHILD, man.

So my hatred (in like) reserved for Indiana fans burns as white hot and unforgiving as God's sentence to Satan.

Screw IU and let them rot. I would love to see them lose every game in every sport played. Some truly despicable people, and if you're too young to understand the hatred for them some have ... just remember :

Indiana long ago earned it. They earned it so thoroughly and for perpetuity, the young fans of BBN need to be reminded of how otherworldly the hate is that they have for us.

Don't make the mistake of showing the devil sympathy, is all I'm sayin'

Lesson to be learned there in terms of how enough bad coaching hires consecutively can ruin a storied program in stick it in the abyss.

Its interesting to look back on as Knight wasn't exactly killing it on his departure, having not gotten out of the first or second round of the NCAA tournament in his last 6 seasons. He simply didn't evolve with the changing player profile or athlete, the whole tyrannic form of coaching fell out of style in the 90's to some degree when long shorts and the Fab 5 starting becoming cool.

Knight's last mark was a S16 in 94, then Mike Davis got them to a Final in 2002, amongst 6 generally non-momentous seasons. Then to Sampson, who likely would have been a good hire if he hadn't been caught cheating - didn't last a year.

Then the brought Crean in from Marquette, and he got to 3 S16's in 8 years, but it wasn't enough for Indiana. Archie Miller and Mike Woodson were complete busts and now they're with Devries.

We are talking a program that since their 87 NC, has not gotten past a Sweet 16 (4 total) more than once in 32 years. Since then, Oregon has 7, instate Butler has 5. They're third in their own state in Sweet 16's.

What a journey. I'm not sure if they ever become relevant again, as the Devries hire has felt a little flat and now they're all gaga over football.

Whatever happens, next coaching hire has to be right.

Value your opinion, but give me a football title all freaking day long. I've seen a few basketball championships.

I respect that, and hope you get it. I'm sure it's equally as hard, as getting #9 will be. Looks like Stein has done a great job so far, good luck to him and the team, and all Wildcat football fans.

I've seen basketball titles to, and just want to see one more before I get to old to give a sheet 😊

I've always viewed UCLAs 11 titles as fake. I mean Sam Gilbert bought that team. As far as I'm concerned, UK has passed them in legit titles.

Love the pro UK bro, but the rest of the world wants to flush 4 UK titles because they're so old they were during segregation. Most competing fanbases think the 4 in the 40's and 50's are worth the value of paper.

I do agree with you on UCLA to an extent - it would be almost impossible to win 11 titles like that without cheating.

I tend to find there is a defining line in CBB once they went to the 64 team format. It just happens to coincide with the rise of Duke, which sucks. If I even watch a game from the 70's, the quality of basketball is remedial compared to what we see now. Guys are clanking 5 foot floaters in their short shorts.

A football championship is a license to print money for the basketball program. Not sure why that’s so hard to see for some. They want basketball primary but as football goes so does the entire athletic department.

Trying to disregard Rupp's titles is some of the stupidest most repugnant crap I've ever seen on this board. The only way there would be any merit to the segregation topic is if we had the advantage of black players when others didn't which is obviously not the case. You are aware we beat Elgin Baylor and Seattle in the title game in '58? Segregation was a disadvantage for UK not an advantage.

Segregation in the 50s and 60s would never be a disadvantage for any white team in the country lol. You got some good takes Paul.

White coaches white players white referees white media white announcers white America....but we didn't have any black players so we we're at a disadvantage..

You see how refs control games in todays game? Imagine in the Rupps era. I'm sure the black players had two fouls before the game started. Disadvantage my *** lol😂

This is too stupid to believe it is an honest opinion even for you. Just another fishing attempt by a pathetic troll desperate for some attention.
