At UNC in the early 1980s after the usual domestic mass production beeers, I loved Molson Golden, Moosehead, O’Keefe, and St. Pauli Girl. In law school I gravitated toward Bass Pale Ale and German lagers and pilsners. Now I can drink most anything. I am partial to Newcastle brown ale as it has returned to its origin in formula and packaging, Guinness, Red Oak, and free beer.

It appears from the graph that people have gone the lite route lately. I like a good English bitter (eg Boddintons, London Pride, Old Speckled Hen) but they are impossible to find on draft in the US. In London you can get London Pride but I could not find the others.

We would get along very well. I love Old Speckled Hen, but I don’t love paying $14+ a six pack at Total Wine. Our local pub (now closed) used London Pride as the base with Guinness for a black & tan. Very tasty.

Total Wine is where I occasionally get Old Specked Hen. I used to find Boddingtons there but not lately. Sometimes Six Pence Pub in Blowing Rock has Old Speckled Hen on tap.

We
I like Skx Pence Pub, but only get to Blowing Rock about every third year.
We have had property there for about 20 years and are building a house in the area so are up quite a bit. We are here now for an annual neighborhood party.

Moving the topic back to beer...there are some good craft beers served at the Blowing Rock Brewery downtown as well.

I bought a 12 pack of Pacifico Clara yesterday and had a couple. That’s a great summer beer. It’s a very crisp and refreshing Mexican pilsner style lager and comes in at 4.4% ABV.
