9 months would be an absolutely miserable. I also saw they hit 200 days without a port call. Thats brutal.
That’s a long time at sea with high operational tempo. That’s the biggest concern here as it could lead to accidents and loss of life. Working on a carrier is no joke, it’s dangerous, especially working the flight deck and engineering spaces. I doubt they’ll see a port call in the gulf as leaving the carrier exposed in port in Dubai to Iranian drone attacks would be a huge risk.
I’m sure other parts of the article are sensationalized. There are no holes in the flight deck, probably some missing nonskid which is normal after long duration at sea doing flight ops.
Carriers are always well supplied, yes sometimes the mid-rats food options suck, and stores aren’t always open when you need toothpaste. The showers can be cold but it’s normal life on a carrier.

This is a war of choice, not WW2 where some depravation of comfort items might be expected. Although, if you read history, the military went to great lengths to get the mail through, and keep stomachs full.
Given the reports of what happened on the Ford during its deployment, and the articles about how extensive the maintenance needs are now that it's back in Norfolk, I put weight in the comments. Backed up crappers isn't just an inconvenience. Two ships of the same class having the same issue is a concern.
As for a port of call, I'm not sure there is an option in the area. Supposedly the newest carriers can only dock in a handful of locations to begin with. Bahrain might still be one of them, but there is no way that's going to happen. I believe I read somewhere that there are only two ports in NATO countries that can dock a carrier, Greece (Crete), and Norway? Point being, a good port of call, maintenance and resupply is more challenging.

No, they were deployed beforehand for a standard scheduled APAC cruise. When trump started a war, they were diverted to the theater and cannot leave until they have a replacement.
