Disappointed that Barrington and Maine South not playing each other this year...

They've played each other the last two years and there was always a lot of excitement before and during the game. Outside of Hersey and maybe Fremd, Barrington has a fairly easy schedule. Maine South has an even easier schedule, would have been nice if they played each other again. MS is stacked this year, strong group returning and I also heard they got 2-3 strong transfers that joined the team, they can compete for the state championship

I don't think Barrington's non-conference schedule is easy at all:

1 Lyons - 8-3 last year
2 LW Central - 9-2 last year
3.Naperville North - 6-4 last year
4. Hersey - 9-3 last year with a 4star QB

Could see 2-2 easily.

Good point, Lyons is solid but they lost a great group os seniors. Barrington should be able to beat LT, LWC, and for sure Naperville North fairly easily. It was great for both programs when Barrington played Maine South, huge crowds, compettive games, etc.

With the talent that Maine South has, they should be able to run the table and compete for the 8A state champtionship. They are absolutely loaded w/ returning talent, 2-3 strong transfers (and I have been clear before I am not a fan of this), and one of the top QB's in the state. They have a cake walk schedule, outside of Batavia they really don't have anyone that can compete with their team. It would have been nice to play a team like Lincoln Way East and Barrington like they did last year, shocked their AD didn't schedule some higher quality teams.

I don't think it is the Maine South ADs fault, I would place the blame on the CSL schools who didn't want to continue playing two regular season games against the MSL anymore. Don't know which schools wanted to continue it and which wanted to end it but majority voted to end the contract with MSL.

I know that Maine South was not in favor of the change.

But most of the CSL was. The series began in 2019 and went through 2025. They did not play in 2020. During that span, the MSL went 94-33.

Last season may have been the last straw for the CSL. The MSL won 19 of the 24 games that were played with Maine South winning two of those games.
