I hope to see competent planning and execution in all phases of the game as well as a fighting spirit that persists through the hard knocks. Give me that and keep recruiting at the highest level and Stein will work out great.
100% this.

If Stein can manage the clock at the end of the halves, and have 11 men on the field after a timeout, we will see great strides.

I like optimism but I got to be realistic. Guy is 36, hot atars in his eyes, this is his first HC job , we are still very far from being and FB coaches " destination" Job no matter what he said ( what would you expect him to say this is my career launching point ? ) . He goes on a very good 3 year run beating alot of SEC big guns - a major program calls throwing money at him hes gone! Stein might be that rare coach that wants to stay if hes good I hope so but I would put those odds as very much against ........... but thats the cart before horse - right now i just want to win games cross thatvother bridge when if it arrives.
It would be a good problem to have cause that would mean we won a bunch. Should make it easier to get the next coach as well.

We will throw more money at him. We have these so-called unlimited resources, right?

We have a first year head coach who has never run a program. Our overall talent is highly unknown and I think it’s going to be a difficult year to sit through as a fan. It’s doubtful Barney hit a home run hire on his way out. The deck is always stacked against Kentucky in the SEC. Stein doesn’t give me much confidence. I would be happy to be wrong but Kentucky isn’t where you go to cut your teeth as a head coach. Winning isn’t easy and year 1 will be a massive challenge.
Rookie head coach Will Stein was possibly the number one assistant coach in the country, and many had him as the top offensive coordinator, and he has assembled an experienced stable of assistant coaches. The recruiting has already reflected the buzz shown by these coaches. No the Cats are probably not going to be a playoff team this coming season but they will be highly competitive. An offensive line can damn near control a game and the Cats appear to have one of the best in the nation. It’s not a stretch to think this team will give most of the teams on their schedule hell. Let’s see how the ball bounces and how a team that seems to believe in themselves plays before we write them off. GBB!

Guy got Joe Sloan to UK. Reread that again.

I think Stoops had to use his style to win. I think Stein will definitely out recruit Stoops and have a much better overall roster. He'll have the horses to stay with most of the opponents. He's also not afraid to take chances, unlike Stoops for the most part.

Correct. When you are that outgunned, cutting games short and playing conservative is how you win. Stein won't have to be so outgunned with his recruiting prowess as long as this first year isn't a complete disaster. Replacing an elite gm is no small feat either.

This year's roster is really impressive but scary little depth, especially on the OL. We're an injury or two away from total disaster and its a looooong SEC grind.

What if it was OSU, and we could still outbid them? Why would he want to go there and coach for those idiot fans?
OSU, Mich, Bama, UT, LSU calls hes gone between the name , history, and recruiting ease . Maybe we could out bid a ND,OU, A&M , FSU, etc level but thats even doubtful unless the success he has here is sea change . Jmo

I am hoping for 5-6 wins but I will be happy if Stein & Minchey show strong potential on offense. Might take a few years to really get things rolling but an exciting offense will keep us competitive and allow us to hit big in the portal going forward. Can't wait to get this season started.

no on UT and I won't concede that one (unless you mean Texas)

If he's happy here, loved and winning big, then he's doing it at an SEC D1 school. With the legacy he could build, I don't see him leaving.

This isn’t 2011, every team is essentially one injury away from disaster. Teams are not getting many talented players on their two deep since NIL started, we’re fine. Example: Bama has a starting lineman from Cal Poly.

5 wins expected
6 wins and bowl eligible would be a great year this year
7 wins or more - I hope ya liked Stein when he was here cause ........ he gone.....

Thats the part that sucks he does well you know hes here 3 yesrs max - this is not a Cignetti who's in 60s Stein is a hungry kid he would go to biggest name that feeds him most if he shows alot of success here.
Totally disagree. If he brings this program to prominence, why would he leave? His dad played here and this is his school. He would be making a name for himself. You negative Nancys are something else. You always have to think of something negative. Can never live in the moment and be thankful Stoops is gone and we might have a chance to be good. He will not be going anywhere if he is wildly successful. Book it.
