Is this team a sleeping GIANT that will awaken under CMC?

More importantly, does Giant carry this?

Is that what this partnership is foreshadowing?

Grocer to Serve as First Cornerstone Partner of West Shore Home Field at Beaver Stadium

Most importantly, does GIANT stock side-cut or top-cut hot dog rolls to go with our Nittany Lion Franks?
Excited for the first Fall camp under HCMC and staff.
-Does Manske win QB2 job?
-Who are starting DEs and who might be the fifth & sixth DEs (Arrington & Ford, or is Burnett ready to step in for limited PT?)
-Starting LT: Goodman, Sexton, Alciene?
-Is WR room really improved?
-Can the three RBs match the production of Kaytron & Nick?
-Will the new DTs do well against B1G OLs?
-Is the transfer Sophomore Center Riker ready for the rigors of B1G line play?

Here is my guess/take
-Manske wins QB2
-Max, Yvan, McPherson, Ike will be the four w/ Burnett, Robinson, Arrington all seeing PT and a sprinkle of Ford
-LT will be Goodman
-Time will tell with the WR room, but I do not believe they can get any worse than what we have seen
-Yes, this RB room will surprise people
-I want to say yes, however, my question is; Will the DL be able to withstand the BIG10 OLs for all four quarters?
-Riker is my my pick to be the surprise transfer this year. I believe he will be an All-BIG10 pick (1st or second team)

Real good questions:
I would assume that Manske, fairly easily wins the QB2
I was worried about DE, but reports on the top 4 seem optimistic.... coupling the DEs with more size at the DT position sounds like something that many PSU fans have wanted. PSU won a lot of games over teams that could not block our fast D Line.....the OSUs and Michigans were always solid up front and could move our DTs exposing in some years or lack of a great M-LB.
Seems like Goodman to start at LT? Good that there are other options as well.
Glad to see that Riker did gain some weight. He moves well but when he came to PSU listed at 280 now if memory serves.....over 295. We could have a good one in Riker.

WR seems like on par with a team like Wisconsin.....bigger, tougher, 1 or 2 explosive WRs but maybe not a single one that is a true #1.

All these statements are based on very little data. But if you know me, I base many of my opions on very little data, so I am very consistent.

Like your view. Just one edit: I believe Robinson is out for the year with another injury.

- I hope all 3 QBs see time in the OOC games. That's a criticism I had of Franklin. When Clifford & Allar got hurt their replacements weren't prepared.

- I hope to see Arrington with some meaningful reps.

- I sure hope Goodman turns out to be as advertised. Our last two 5* OL (Williams, Birchmeier) didn't work out at hoped.

- Becht is familiar with Sowell & Eskildsen. Howard will be #3 unless he beats those guys out. I sure hope he does since Denmark went to Va Tech.

- People seem to be expecting a lot from Riker. He didn't exactly dominate or receive great rankings at Texas State.

Agree with the first four but Riker should be good and had big programs on him .

Good takes/concerns. Remember Riker was a Freshman All American Center last year at Texas State and he picked up weight, now close to 300 lbs. If he struggles in OOC then Rulli gets the nod @ Center going into the B1G schedule.

The schedule is manageable as has been continuously noted on this board although I look at both the Wisky and NW games as tricky testers.

Wisky has a new portal QB, Colton Joseph, from Old Dominion, who is good. He was named the Sun Belt Conference offensive player of the year. He ran for over 1,000 yards and passed for over 2,600 yards last year. He has wheels. ODU is not in the same solar system as B10 competition, I get that, but the guy has skills and remember what Indiana did with JMU guys. The other piece to this which makes the game interesting besides being the B10 home opener for Campbell is that Wisky wants to go back to playing power bully ball. Can we hold up on the D Line? Can we contain the QB run on the edge? Really hoping the Charmin soft interior Dlines of the BGJ days are long gone.

Then we have to go on the road to open up the new NW stadium on a Friday night. This is a week before the USC game. Possible trap game? NW has Chip Kelly running their offense. What tricks up his sleeves will he have? Any lack of focus or sloppy play with a turnover or two could doom us in Evanston.

We obviously should win both of these games but they are far from gimmies.

And for all the BGJ jock sniffers out there, if we lose one of these games then yes Campbell should be criticized as much as BGJ would have been if he lost one of these games. So don't whine that there is some double standard against your beloved BGJ that you you make up in your fantasy worlds.

I’m going to wait to see how this team performs in its non-conference games before I say that they definitely should win any Big 10 game. I say this because there’s so much that’s unknown. You had a pretty good idea that the 2024 team probably was a playoff caliber team, but I thought that the 2025 team was too and look what happened. This team also needs some luck with staying relatively healthy.

If this team can't dominate this OOC then it could be a long, tough season.

Like last season. PSU won the non-conference games big on the scoreboard but looked crappy. Too many drives ended in field goals. Brutal.

If PSU starts this season similarly, looking like a$$, Kraft is going to have to make a change. Championships are the standard, after all.

😞

I hope the partnership is cleaner than the stores.

This begs the question, will Marty the Robot roam the aisles of Beaver Stafium much as he does GIANT?

It may actually be worth it, for a chance at seeing that googly-eyed b@st@rd tumble down 75 steps and out of the upper deck.

- I 100% agree with the QB take. It drove me nuts when we went up by more than 20 on an opponent and we still watched our QB1 out there.

- I would love to see Arrington get more PT to let him put his work on the field.

- You're not wrong about the OL lol. Sad, but it's a reality.

- I believe Howard will be THE guy by years end. He will pass Eskildsen in the first 4-5 games then surpass Sowell towards the end of the year. This kid is incredibly talented and I am super happy he decided to stay.

- Riker was a freshman all-American honorable mention at Texas State. Yes, it is Texas State, however, there were a lot of schools that wanted him. I am very excited to see how he does in the BIG18. He is my surprise transfer portal pick up. James Peoples is up there but I believe picking a skill guy is too easy.

Your takes are very reasonable and they do make sense.
