I get it. Both are great bands but if you grew up listening to rock radio or have had jobs where there's a radio nearby that's on all day, you'll hear a handful of bands and a handful of those band's hits multiple times per day, everyday. It's why in my post I brought up Queen. According to the powers that be, Queen has about five songs that matter and trust me, you'll hear those songs weekly, some daily. I bet "Back in Black" and "Welcome to the Jungle" are played 10-15 times a week on any given classic rock channel across the country.

It must be an age thing. There is musical brilliance in every Beatles album and all the early Rolling Stones albums. I could never understand how anyone couldn’t see it.
I didn’t realize there was Van Halen hate. Do you hate all of it, the David Lee Roth stuff or Hagar stuff?
The first Van Halen album blew me away.

My dad is 60 and welcomed grunge. He was happy it killed hair bands.
I don't hate them but I only really liked a couple songs out of their entire catalog(I can't remember the 2 songs right now but both were Hagar and had "Love" in the title). Amazing musicians but, to me, their songs were very forgettable.

Well sue me I guess but I’ve always had a soft spot for REO Speedwagon and Foreigner. Both have some of my favorite guilty pleasure songs and deep catalogues of them.
I like some on his list, but can see how others might not, but as I said ... was surprised to see YES included. I liked REO, especially in concert. "Riding the Storm Out" is tremendous LIVE !!
First three (3) albums before Steve Perry joined and they became more of a singer's band, they were a progressive rock band and vastly different ... and pretty decent. They morphed into a love ballad band that greatly appealed to chicks after Perry arrived.

I listen to Sirius 70's, 80's, and 90's and when any of her songs come on, I switch to which ever one I was not listening to at that time.
He's remained true to himself and his roots. I'm glad he' still around and still making good music.
