Ironic because video didn’t kill radio. MP3 killed both. Once you could have your music on your iPod, why wait for the song to play on radio or MTV.

Well, the song is from 1979, so let’s cut them a break on not predicting the iPod. Jobs hadn’t even dreamed of it yet 😜

More ironic that the lyrics say " killed the radio STAR". NOT radio. Similar but not quite the same meaning. Eta the wild part is cable TV had no commercials. That's why you paid for it.

It is interesting that music business kind of inverted. Back then you went on tour to sell albums. Now you make albums to sell tickets. The real money is in touring.

Especially when you’re charging hundreds of dollars for tickets.

Also I’m pretty sure the artist gets a higher percentage of the proceeds from a concert than they do from streams.
Yes. Streaming is great for getting your content out fast but they make very little money off of it.

I tuned out after they started playing more shows than music; around the time of Real World, Road Rules and that dating show with Jenny McCarthy. Alternative Nation and 120 Minutes were the best back in the day.

VH1 was a good substitute for a while but even they succumbed to the reality show craze.

I liked when they first made MTV2. It was nothing but music videos for 2 or 3 years then it turned into the same old crap. I bet I haven’t watched MTV since 08 or 09.
