We are hurtling towards non students playing. Reminds me of the old time semi pro company sponsored teams.

If Payne got 700k last year God knows what he would want now.
Rivera should be a lot more affordable. I’d take him as a depth piece. And what about Fisher? Not a real PF as we know. Undersized but I’d take him as a big minutes rotation player after Devin Williams at the 4.

The article includes the following statement: “For the players included in the injunction, the Portal will be open from Aug. 3 through Aug. 10.”

Am I understanding this correctly to mean all of these players who just became eligible have only a week to find a team?

Big East spending was estimated to be up 80% this year. 700k last year is equivalent $1.26 M.

We need to be bold and take advantage of this. Not necessarily with Payne but definitely need to add a 4/5 and anyone else who can help.

Do you think we would take Fisher back ahead of Rivera and Payne? Who knows how much we were set to pay Nwuli and what we have left to use.

If this holds up instead of searching for a PF overseas chances are we'll find one here in the US.

No it just means they have a week to declare their intention to enter the portal. They can take as much time as they need to find a team although they will eventually need to enroll and sign up for some sham classes to be eligible.

Seton Hall routinely is never an early adopter of trends in the game. They need to jump on this opportunity and be bold. There are dozens of high-impact veteran players suddenly available and we need to capitalize. This is a 2nd chance to improve the roster which most every media member believes is once again at the bottom of the BE in terms of talent. This is a 2nd chance to spend even close to the $14.5M Big East Average.

We only have 11 players enrolled on the roster right now. Nwuli is not coming. Petrovic and Mariano have yet to be ruled eligible and have not enrolled although they are expected to become eligible. If you count them as definite we still have 2 open roster spots. We need to find the money to get an impact player or 2. Everyone else is going to do it, let's jump on it fast and get someone who has value. If we wait and play it safe like we usually do, we'll get 3rd-rate players.

Can we just make everybody eligible already. So stupid. Next year the lawsuit will be for 6 years eligibility.

I am sure they have been in contact with teams knowing how this would go. Anyone who thought this ruling would go any other way is living in fantasyland. Once Pandora’s box was opened any challenge to a NCAA rule will likely succeed. Might as well just make the NCAA a professional league.

NCAA is constantly losing in court. The thought was that the House settlement and the NCAA adopting new rules would bring some sanity back to the game, but they totally botched the implementation of the 5 in 5 rule.

By announcing it this Spring but saying it won't apply until next season, they eliminated an entire class of players. That made the case easy for the lawyers who argued the rules unfairly bar the Class of 22 HS players from significant earnings.

Guys who graduated, played in the NBA Summer League and have signed G-League or Exhibit 10 deals are now going to be running back to the Portal to cash in.

Utter chaos due to the NCAA, it’s member schools, lawyers, overzealous coaches, etc.

When will a 2nd round NBA draft choice sue to go back to college where he could make more money?

What about the class of 2021 who didn’t get a COVID year or a 5th year? I’m sure the vulturous lawyers are all over it.
