Yes. We are usually going to be predicted to finish with a record in line with our historical performance.Maybe if we start consistently winning 7, 8 or 9 games a year, maybe they will start predicting us to win 7, 8 or 9 games a year. It's a chicken and the egg thing...
We have no idea about the OL. It is all new faces and the jewel of the transfers is out for the season with an injury.I like it much better than us coming in hyped and falling on our face! I love the chip on my shoulder thing! Like Beamer said we were hyped last year and we basically have the same team this year with hopefully better O and D lines, so who know! Wait and see mode again!
The only idea I have about the OL is that they can't be worse. I think they have to be better by default. We have no idea about the OL. It is all new faces and the jewel of the transfers is out for the season with an injury.
On DL, Stewart is still nursing a back injury. Back injuries don't get better by playing more football and can be lifetime things.
Definitely wait and see time.

I only say that b/c last year's line was so very bad. I think it has to be better simply by default. If a new OL coach and an all new line produce the same or similar results, I'd be surprised.Where i come from, thats called a jinx.
Seriously, both our highnproced tackles have injury issues, and the entire OL is a rebuild project. Im not tempting fate by proclaiming it any sort of success before I see it on the field.

I'm not saying they'll be GOOD. If the OL is below average, that's still way better than last year's.
I guess if they end up being mediocre at best, that is a major upgrade.I only say that b/c last year's line was so very bad. I think it has to be better simply by default. If a new OL coach and an all new line produce the same or similar results, I'd be surprised.

Well you could switch to the WNBA channel.damn, it's getting old.
I think as a fanbase we’ve thought that every season since 2019. We’ve been wrong plenty of times. The only idea I have about the OL is that they can't be worse. I think they have to be better by default.
I know he’s persona non grata among gamecock nation, but I remember that in his last season here Derek Watson usually had to make two moves and break a tackle just to get to the line of scrimmage.I think as a fanbase we’ve thought that every season since 2019. We’ve been wrong plenty of times.
Yeah OL often been a struggle here. I remember what you mean about Watson, he was fantastic with his head screwed on straight.I know he’s persona non grata among gamecock nation, but I remember that in his last season here Derek Watson usually had to make two moves and break a tackle just to get to the line of scrimmage.
Marcus broke two tackles every play too. We think our oline was so much better, but it wasn’t. Marcus was a man among boys. That Georgia game his first year was a great example.Yeah OL often been a struggle here. I remember what you mean about Watson, he was fantastic with his head screwed on straight.
I read somewhere that the average age of the college football fan is in the 37-44 age group. Looking around the stadium when I attended one game last season, I think that's accurate. I'm well beyond that age group. I suspect most on this forum are as well. Honestly those predictions and how we actually do don't bother me. I'd like for us to win but, "C'est la vie". And I probably take that approach because I'm used to it. Those 20-45 are not accustomed to it.damn, it's getting old.

I think we've talked about this before. But I am noticing the next generation (my kids specifically) are not nearly as interested as I was at that age. To a large degree.
I’d say ceilingI say 6-6 is the floor. Beamer will be safe for another couple of years. Wash, rinse, repeat.
5 Ws is the ceiling. No OL, RBs and only 1 WR, and Beamer still in charge.I say 6-6 is the floor. Beamer will be safe for another couple of years. Wash, rinse, repeat.
Although true, that does not necessarily equate to wins on our part. UF still has more talent than we do,6 is the floor. We play Kent State , Towson and Mississippi State to start off 3-0. Then we play 3 teams that were so bad that they have new Head Coaches ....Kentucky, Florida and Arkansas. And let's not forget that this is Shane's 6th season coming up, not his 2nd or 3rd, If we don't win at least 6, Shane needs to turn in his keys,
And at FloridaAlthough true, that does not necessarily equate to wins on our part. UF still has more talent than we do,
They always do. But we have beaten them in the past.Although true, that does not necessarily equate to wins on our part. UF still has more talent than we do,
We beat them at Gainesville in 2010 and 2014.And at Florida
Spurrier beat them AT GAINESVILLE in Year 6 of his time here.
Would you say the same about Mississippi State? Mississippi State’s overall winning percentage is a shade less than ours. Since Jackie Sherrill, they have changed their HC roughly every 3.5 years and where has that gotten them; they’re a gimme on your season prediction. We’re probably one on their fans’ predictions. Why do we expect “better” than them? We deserve a Cignetti and Mark Cuban at South Carolina? Why?The bottom-line is that this will be Shane's 6th season here. Yes, 6 wins is the floor in Year 6 of his time here. 6 wins gets us into a bowl. Is THAT TOO MUCH to ask for in his 6th season? Spurrier beat them AT GAINESVILLE in Year 6 of his time here. If we are going to give Beamer a "pass" this season, we might as well drop football. We are wasting our money and time. South Carolina should not be an "assisted living facility" or "nursing home" for Head Football Coaches. Again, I believe if he can't win at least 6 with this schedule, he needs to be escorted out the door.
If I'm wrong, convince me. I'm open-minded and willing to reverse course.
