Sumrall's response was sorta funny, but if you think about it for more than 10 seconds being a freak who likes to smell women's feet and a guy who likes to get pedicures really have nothing to do with each other.
Sumrall is doing more than I expected to push attention. Between faking rage at the reporter for a cell phone and now this. Not sure what to make of it.
If Sumrall's successful, this stuff is fine.
If he struggles, it's a bad look.

This IS the absolute worst time of year for sports. Nothing going on except some golf, the dog days of MLB, and the start of NFL camps.

I think that's why the WNBA is just making up controversies at this point. Anything to get eyeballs on it.
This goes along with my theory that sports needs to be shifted a bit because while baseball is popular, it can't hold its own after the NBA and NHL Playoffs are over. Baseball is brutal to discuss. It's just numbers, percentages, averages, and talking about a player out because of a bruise on his thumb or a small cut on his hand.

Been saying for a while Sumrall is not looking good to me, and hasn’t since he took that job. He’s shooting his wad early and often, trying to make himself appear the anti - Billy Napier in cringe fashion. From the super tough guy routines that are staged and intentional to his actual comments that he’s not Billy Napier lol. Guy is getting cringe fast and in a failed UT coach kind of way.
I know this for 100% fact, I would not at this point trade coaches with them. Something about Sumrall just screams insecurity or staged. And he never seems to stop doing it. I get it in the first few weeks but it’s like he thinks he has to keep reminding people that he’s intentionally trying not to be Billy Napier.
Now I just call him Not Billy Napier. I just think he’s approaching a level of weird that usually isn’t a good sign.

He’s not going to make it there. “Look at me I’m tough I’m not Billy Napier” isn’t going to win in and of itself in this league. From watching his performance art day after day to actually taking the Florida job in the first place, I’m off the guy. He can stay out of Lexington for all I care.
Not Billy Napier is all I can see now anyway, so I’m good. I wouldn’t trade.
I only watched this past week to see the Ryan Clark situation. When ESPN has a racism charge discussed especially with a guy like Ryan Clark, you know it’s going to be some legitimate groundbreaking stuff.
As this goes on I think it's clear he is definitely chasing headlines and its way out of character for him. Not sure what is going on but don't see it as a positive trend.
