Kaili Manuel won 73Kg and looked good but she's in a difficult spot going forward. With Elor only 22 and others like Jasmine Robinson still U20 and Kylie Welker and Kennedy Blades 23, it's hard to see a weight for her until after the '32 Olympic cycle. She's just in a really tough weight area for an American at this time.

@zzs006 : any thoughts on men’s freestyle first day draws…?

Wax starts with Jadhav -India in the 1/8 Is on the opposite side of Villafane - PA/Puerto Rico who has wrestled him tough in the past

Kooper Deputy 48kg Chesnut Ridge PA gets the winner of Egypt and Germany in the 1/8 Russia and AZE seems to be his best opponent

Restivo -State College 51kg opens in the quals vs TJK who lost his only match at Asians Penn State recruit Wil Soto is also in this bracket for Puerto Rico. Iran is the Asian Champ beating last years U17 5th from Japan and I can't find anything on the Russian Restivo will get in 1/8

Will Soto - NY/KD trained/Puerto Rico 51kg - gets winner of Armenia/KGZ. Opposite side of Restivo

Karenbauer 55kg Starts with Deleanu Moldova in the quals and gets Asia 2nd Japan in the 1/8. Iran seems to be the strongest

Burke NJ 60Kg - Gets winner of Japan/Romania in the 1/8. Defending champ India is on the other side of the bracket

Kikiniou 65Kg Is the favorite but was the favorite in Greco and went one and done. Fargo champ from Florida, Jovanny Solis, is in the bracket for Puerto Rico.

Cam Howard 71kg starts with Both - Slovakia (can't find anything on him). Kaz won Asia and Bulgaria won Europe so it might be an open weight

OFarrell 80Kg State College gets returning bronze from TJK in the quals and has Iran who TF through Asia on the same side. A good one won't medal. Leyden Acevedo Berks Catholic/Stellar Trained is also in the bracket.

Tsarni 92kg starts with UKR in the quals then Iran in 1/8. Russia is the favorite as the India that won Asia isn't in this.

Mocco 110kg starts with Georgia( returning 5th and 1 in Euros) in the 1/8s. AZE is returning bronze and Bul 5th but this is a wide, wide open weight with India, Iran and Russia. A medal here would be great.

Honestly, I’ve been so busy lately I haven’t watched a single match yet or dug into U17’s at all. I won’t be much help on this one. Thank you to @Coastal2 for all the Pbp. It’s the only way I’ve kept up on the action. I will 100% be doing a full U20 preview though

I didn't try to answer for you. A mod added the quote.

U17s are too difficult to really look at since there are so few data points. A few of the Russians and Iranians can't be found online unless you speak/write Cyrillic or Farsi and can find individual results in country.

A few wrestlers are returning from '25 and Euros and Asians help some but a lot of the Russian team is different than their Euros team. Iran has quite a few different from their Asians but we know they will have man strength to go along with their full facial hair.

Usually Americans wait until they can't make the US teams before they wrestle for other countries but Soto and Solis are both good enough to earn a spot on the US teams eventually.

Women wrestling today for medals
40 kg Valdez vs India Bronze
46 kg Healey vs Hungary Bronze
53 kg Solomon vs India Gold
61 kg Von Gonton vs Turkiye Gold
69 kg Fernandez vs Turkiye Gold

Don't know much about any of the opponents but the Indian women will have the same haircut. It's kind of creepy like they decided on a team haircut and all went to the same stylist.

Solis Puerto Rico vs Watatani Japan 65kg quals

Very little action as Japan goes on the clock. Solis drives through for the TD and 4 guts to win by TF 10-0 one of the quickest guts I've seen as he went from TD to TF in seconds turning both ways.

Solis is a 4 time FL State champ with a chance to win 6 and has won Fargo.

Chase Karenbauer vs Deleanu Moldova 55Kg quals

Karenbauer snaps to a front headlock then hooks the cradle for 5 turns and a 10-0 TF in :48

Karenbauer is from Grove City, a PA State champ who beat Keegan Bassett for the spot on the team. Bad Karma.

OFarrill vs TJK.

TJK with 2 off OFarrill chest wrap. and 2 off throw on the edge TJK up 4-0 TJK looks tired as OFarrill with TD. TJK playing the tape removal game and is slow to center. 1 TJK on step out but should have been OFarrell wants brick but corner wont throw. 5-2 at break Only reason I can figure for the no challenge is not wanting a lunger for TJK as challenges have taken forever.

2nd
US with shuck for TD 5-4. TJK step out 6-4 and 2 exposure 8-4. TJK playing with shorts for lunger. US TD on edge 8-6 OFarrill gave up the leg too easily and TJK holding on for dear life. OFarrill loses 8-6 to returning Bronze. Needs TJK to beat Iran to get pulled back in as those three seem to be the class of the field.

It's almost like this challenge system is in place to negate the American's pace advantage. There was an 18 minute challenge break in a match earlier. That's absolutely ridiculous and a way to get the American's to not challenge as to not give their opponents a super lunger.

8 minute break for a challenge on Mat A

Kikiniou Cornell recruit vs Solis PUR/FL 65 KG 1/8

Solis with ankle pick attempt for nothing. Solis holding center. Kikiniou tapping from space. Kikiniou on the clock . Kikiniou trying to dig underhooks. Passivity point Solis 1-0. Not a lot of action 1-0 Soli at the break.

2nd
Kikiniou holding center with hand fighting. Solis on the clock. 1-1 US with a lot more hand fighting. PUR with duck to single for TD and 2 5-1 with US challenge. Challenge lost 6-1 final for Solis.
