PER M JONES, KSR, THIS DID NOT HAVE TO DO WITH J BAT , AT ALL.
NOTHING NEFARIOUS
IT IS PERSONAL.

Some people just can’t believe that these guys are actual humans and have things go on personally just like anyone else. Matt Luke left UGA because he wanted more family time. He’s at Clemson now because Dabo prioritizes that and forces coaches to get out of the office.

If the GM left because of Stein's comments, which i doubt, he better go be a GM at a CUSA team.

That's called being soft.
This x1000. The role (and place) of a GM is not front and center, not in commercials, not on the radio. If he expected different he was misinformed and ill suited for the position to begin with.

Imo this is a bigger loss than this board is recognizing. He was the architect of Oregon rosters and a catalyst behind our roster success so far.

Plus the dreaded "personal reasons" and request for privacy isn't good. Its either a serious health, marital, or HR related issue.

Imo we'll need a replacement. I don't think nochte is ready.

Just an awful blow.
The two articles I read did not say "personal reasons". Biondo called it a "personal decision" and UK said "We respect his choice and the personal considerations behind it." To me these read differently. Leaving for "personal reasons" is reactive, something happened and I must leave for resolution. Leaving as a "personal decision" or a "choice" is proactive, an opportunity that offers more money or a better quality of life. I would bet it is family related. He is married with two children. Biondo is from New York and attended WVU. His wife is from Alabama. My guess is that he has found a position closer to Alabama with New York as a second consideration.

Will schools let players make individual deals for a patch? Every player wears patch A but you can also get a Patch B that is just on your jersey? A Tyrone Stokes, for example, could probably land a patch deal. I suspect he will be on TV a lot and being that one patch that is on him could pull some $$$

Not in previous years, and according to current rules no. The jersey's must match to include logos, manufacturer labels, color, and sponsorship and advertising. The obvious exceptions are Player Name and Uniform Number. Schools are also limited to (2) sponsor patches no larger than 4" square for both (so this avoids the Nascar firesuit 75 sponsors problem). Not saying this will never become a thing, but currently, individuals cannot attain a uniform patch deal that the rest of the team does not also wear.

I hope not. I do not care if they want to sponsor/promote brands outside of the games, but during the games it should just be the team sponsors.

Personal move and personal reasons plus the ask for privacy. Same deal.
