The yearly income generated for Ohio State by the JPMorganChase jersey patches is expected to be an industry leader and is bigger than many NBA jersey patch deals.

OSU's deal also includes NIL opportunities for athletes.

The rich getting richer.

Wow, Iowa cant match that unless we just develop great players from a few 4 *s and mainly 3 *s. That 17 million is about what all the Big teams get in tv revenue.

Indiana got big money at just the right time for Cignetti to bring in his past 2 qbs by paying them big time. I just hope Iowa can get better offensively in the passing game, not turn it over and turn over the other teams which is how you even it out on the field

????? 17 Million? The B1G teams get 80-100 million a year from the media contracts. (Except some of the new comers). Still this is just another rich getting richer story. It will be interesting to see what Iowa can come up with and just how many patches the league will let them wear.

I've seen a lot of Iowa fan accounts on social media ask John Deere to sponsor Iowa with a patch. As much as I don't like seeing ads on jerseys, I'd be open to it if it meant that much extra money. Open to Casey's or Culver's too.

My gawd you are right, I am the new Rip Van Winkle. I am sure I did read that but my brain went back 10 years. Still that extra 17 million is a whole hell of a lot. OSU can give about an extra million in NIL/money to almost all their 22 football starters

Actually that's not totally true, unless I'm reading this wrong. I believe that 17 Million is by putting patches on ALL athletic teams jerseys. So it will be spread out to some degree between the sports. YES, the lions share will probably go to football. Now Iowa and other schools are free to follow suit, so we'll see what Beth and her staff can come up with. The commish was asked in his opening statements specifically about this patch for OSU. The FIRST time this has been allowed I guess. He said at this time they're going to let the schools handle their own business for now, and keep an eye on this. I'm hopeful we'll not see the uniforms looking like nascar drivers in a couple of years. Its a brave new world.

Yep, Casey, Bandag, Deere, IH, somebody. We'll see what Beth can come up with. Culvers, probably not a chance. Their origins are deep in Wisconsin, and I'd bet its a cold day in hell before old Craig will be putting that on our jerseys.

Should Ohio State have held out for more?

Notre Dame announced today that it has signed a multi-year jersey sponsorship deal with SoFi.

The 6-year deal averages $18 to $20 million annually, making it the CURRENT most valuable jersey sponsorship deal in college athletics history.

Maybe the Principal Financial Group? They are headquartered in Des Moines.

Glad I don't bank there anymore. Spending $17M a year to get a patch om

Iowa really misses that Roy Carver money. Not sure what his boys did with their inheritance.

Wisconsin already snagged Culver’s.

Side note: Iowa better color match whoever they get. Culver’s is a good sponsor match for them due to their state ties, but wow that logo looks ugly as hell on their jerseys. It looks slightly better on their white ones but not by much.

That's what I brought up earlier, Culvers is iconic in Wisconsin which is where their roots are. I know Moon passed away, but maybe they can roll some of that I 80 truck stop $$ that way.....

Well it’s probably more like 65/35 statewide for Iowa, and most people aren’t gonna stop shopping at a Hyvee/caseys just because they sponsor Iowa. It’s just CFB at the end of the day.

It will be interesting to see what kind of deal Iowa lands vs what Clown U can get.

When you think about it, millions tune in to see the Hawkeyes and they will all see that patch. What's that worth to a company?

The big 12 did a conference deal with monster energy. It pays about 1 mil a year per school. Looks like a big L for the commisssionor Yormark. I’m not sure if they’re allowed to get their own or not.

They would be my personal pick but it kind of ruins the self sufficient AD thing. Also Iowa would be criticized for directing hospital money to the AD instead of medical research.
.
The University of Iowa Health Care is a roughly $4.5 billion enterprise that generated an operating surplus of about $317 million in its most recent fiscal year. It largely operates on patient-care revenue and functions as a self-supporting health system within the University of Iowa.

If the legality of a UI Health Care sponsorship on Iowa uniforms is in question, it’s worth remembering that the Board of Regents already approved Iowa State’s CyTown project, where university-owned land is leased for commercial development and private businesses operate on university property. That demonstrates the Regents have already approved significant commercial partnerships involving university assets.

Against that backdrop, a fair-market-value sponsorship between University of Iowa Health Care and Iowa Athletics would hardly be unprecedented.

thank you clowns for your white elephant venture.

$21M for a logo patch seems appropriate, that's $3M per wave at the Children's Hospital each year ...quid-pro-quo... sign the deal.
