Summer Exhibitions?

Why not allow them? It makes more sense than annual international trips. I would prefer to see a series of games against smaller KY schools played in gyms around the state than games against teams from the Bahamas pro league, etc. Pope has talked about wanting a 40 games regular season, but it doesn't sound like that’s likely any time soon. Summer exhibitions seem like a nice compromise.

Not just no but hell no. I would love to see Cats play summer basketball but we can't even keep guys healthy with work load we have now, why on earth should we add to it. Just another opportunity to get somebody hurt before the season even starts.

They get paid, they are pros, earn your money and injury's can happen anytime, lots and lots of practice hours, are we going to stop practicing? Playing real games, even if it's lesser competition, you get to know your team, and what you have, before getting serious.

this is why i think we are in a new era where you need 11-12 legit guys. the season now is 40 games. they want to expand the NCAAT. they will probably expand the regular season. then add summer games. you could see guys play 50-55 games. thats about 67% of an NBA season. injuries will mount. i just dont know how most teams can pay that many guys unless there is a salary cap that is collectively bargained in some way

Let's see how you feel when we start a season with 2 or 3 key guys injured and we get hammered by every good team we play.

Why would a coach want that added level of scrutiny in the summer?

coaches get zero sympathy from me. these guys make 4M-6M a year for a 4 month season playing just 2 games a week. have a staff of 5-6 guys to delegate most of the work too. there is a reason why all the older timers are getting out. its not going to be a country club job anymore. for 20+ years big name coaches were the face of the sport where they just had to show up and flex their personality.....that is no longer the case.

Do we have any October games like last year's Purdue and Georgetown games?

I’ll take all the UK basketball I can. I loved watching Reed and Wagner’s team win gold. I enjoyed the 2015 Bahamas trip. The 2019 trip looked dominant. 2011 Winsdor I think it was. I was in high school and had to VCR record the games during the day.

I’ll watch it even if they play Upike, Alice Lloyd and Lindsey Wilson. Just something I enjoy

I'm going to choose to think we get over that injury BS, and play with a full healthy bunch this season. Can't worry about s.hit that hasn't happened yet.
