Hey all,

I got 2 tickets for my friend and I for the game in College Park for the Oct 17 game. I want to book a hotel but don't know the area at all. For the hotels within walking distance to the stadium it looks like only the Marriot has 4 rooms left but are a bit pricey. I don't mind staying a little further out and taking an uber in, I know the game time hasn't been announced yet (scarletknights.com says no later than 5pm) and that traffic can be pretty bad. Does anyone else who has been to college park have any advice on where to stay/where to eat/drink at?

I stayed at the Courtyard Marriott in New Carrollton for a night earlier this month. Wanted Metro access to DC and quick getaway to Beltway and 95.

Not sure if you're going to DC but New Carrollton could be an option. Five miles from Maryland stadium.

Too lazy to look up, does the metro have a stop at the Maryland campus and how far is walk to stadium?

College Park station is a 41 minute walk (1.8 miles) to the Maryland football stadium.

For comparison, SHI is a 43 minute walk (1.9 miles) to the New Brunswick station. Both walks go across the campuses.

There is a holiday inn in college park which is very reasonable. Will have to drive to campus which is simple enough. There is paid parking for out of towners.

What is the game day experience like compared to Rutgers, and other away teams.
Found U Washington to be superb, Va Tech to be great. Wisconsin to be pretty good. Minnesota and Nebraska good.

Similar to Rutgers. When the team is good, people will show up. If they’re lousy, the stadium will be empty. Atmosphere will be Below the teams you mentioned, but should be good enough.

Have been to Maryland game around 5 times & we found the best place was the Marriott on campus, no hassle with parking & short walk to the Stadium, the RU team stays there, so that is why there are few rooms available. If you stay somewhere off campus traffic is horrendous & the day of game paid lots are a mile from the stadium.

Agree with this. Been 4 or so times. Stayed at the Marriott once drive in twice and stayed in DC once. Marriott and DC were the best. Driving down from NJ is easy. But as Tru mentioned navigating once your in College Park and parking is a disaster.
Marriott easy in and out and walk to stadium. DC was great and convenient. Rolled it into business trip and easy with metro stop right on campus.

Wasn't looking to stay in DC.

Can also look at hotels in the Greenbelt area. That's only one stop from College Park on the Metro green line, or a short drive over to the campus.

What to eat in Maryland? Crab cakes. Duh.

G and H. Stop there on the way down. Very legit.
