Great city so far. Really nice finding 100% vegan restaurants with fantastic food and service.
Just got back from a week up there. I hope the weather improves for you.
Seems odd that someone like you would spend a week in a big blue city like NYC. Did they try to trans you?
No one tried to trans me. I was really surprised at how happy everyone was. All the workers were very enthusiastic about their jobs and took pride in it. I was expecting them to be downtrodden. That is the mindset I was imagining for voting democratic socialist. I had a great trip and really enjoyed it. Didn’t see many homeless people and it was pretty clean. Times Square is Myrtle Beach with legal marijuana. Stay away from there.
I love NYC so I know these things. I'm happy you got to experience it for yourself. Did you dye your hair blue?

The world's best free ride is there...the Staten Island Ferry. It runs 24/7 from the Whitehall Terminal in Manhattan to the Staten Island Terminal. Board at Whitehall and go to the back of the ferry; on the lower deck there's an outdoor platform that provides fantastic views of the city as you make your way to Staten Island; it also goes fairly close to the Statue of Liberty. You do have to exit the ferry in SI, but if you choose to you can just go straight to the gate & get back on the ferry for return.
If you can time it such that you leave Manhattan right before sundown, you can watch the change from dusk to nighttime, then see the city lights on your return.

Been here several times, but this is the first time in over 20 years.
Went with the wife in May. Stayed near broadway and 44. Was so much fun just walking around. Saw the 9-11 memorial museum and MoMa. I highly recommend both. We saw Death of a Salesman on broadway. Great play I'd never seen before. Nathan Lane was great.
The food is just amazing. Make sure to get to Little China and Italy. Subway all day everyday, we found it a great way to get around.

I knew you weren't and I know you're a good sport so that's enough about that because I really don't want to derail the OP's thread, though I would be interested in hearing what you did there and what your thoughts are about what you experienced.
I would like to hear what the OP is doing. The weather was pretty good last week, just one day of rain. Almost felt like autumn in SC. We never left Manhattan. Stayed on the South side of the park. Walked 8-10 miles a day. Went to the top of the Empire State Building, those people that climbed the antenna are absolutely crazy. Natural History Museum, MET, World Trade Center site, NY Public Library, Grand Central Terminal, Ghostbusters Fire Station (couldn't miss that!). Went to see the Book of Mormon. Ate lots of good food. Polo Bar and Carbone were the highlights. Martha Stewart was in the Polo Bar for her birthday. She was not with Snoop Dog unfortunately. Wife dragged me to a lot of stores where I enjoyed sitting down. Everyone was very nice, didn't really ever hear any "New York" accents. Maybe they were all in the Hamptons.
Wow, now that's a full experience but I don't know whether to be shocked or impressed that you saw Book of Mormon, haha. I also saw it on Broadway and it's raunchy AF but that's also what makes it funny. Maybe I'm wrong but I would have expected you to be outraged by a play like that.
We’re staying just south of Central Park. There today and at the zoo. Going through stroll 5th avenue this afternoon.
Have tickets for three shows; Great Gatsby, Hadestown and The Outsiders.
Reservations at Tavern On The Green for dinner. And taking the Circle Line Manhatten sightseeing cruise and seeing the Intrepid Museum.

I saw the Outsiders on Broadway too and it's great, especially the second act. Enjoy!

All were very good. The Museum of Broadway was fantastic. Spent 3 hours going through it. Just really well laid out and extremely knowledgeable guides and staff throughout.
Really enjoyed exploring Central Park.
The meal at the Tavern was very good. Considerably overpriced but was expecting that.
We went to the same all vegan place 3 nights for dinner and were never disappointed. Plus it was pretty close to all of our theatres.
Overall loved NYC and looking forward to a return trip.

Glad to hear Tavern on the Green is open. I ate alone the first time I was there…hostess felt bad because I was by myself, lol. It wasn’t open when my family was there about a decade ago. Great prix fix meal for lunch.
Hit Serendipity 2 for ice cream if possible…upper east side. Not far from Central Park East.
This makes me sad for myself but happy for you. Lived in North Jersey for twenty years - raised our kids there. And we went to the city a lot. When we moved away we said at least we have no regrets - we really took advantage of our time there.
We moved to Delaware because I couldn’t see retiring with $25k in property taxes and a one car garage that no car would actually fit in.
