Jackson Kiovan is leading the third round of the 3M Open. He just shot a 28 on the back nine today. He graduated from Auburn in May. He turned pro after the US Open. He is in his third pro tournament. He led Auburn to two NCAA Championships. Now, he is leading Scottie Scheffler by six strokes going into tomorrow. Should be fun to see if he can hold his lead and win in his third tournament as a pro.

He has already been anointed the “young Johnny Miller.”

And Jake Knapp just tied Koivun's back nine 28. So, even a career journeyman can get hot and shoot 28 out there.

Four holes. Four makable birdie putts. He’s two under .

He hasn’t kicked a dog or thrown dirt on an ole lady…villain?

I wonder what the PGA Tour will do for players like Koivun when they change to the new format in 2028?

Koivun has his tour card due to the PGA University Program, which awards points to college students based on amateur accomplishments. Koivun has his card for the rest of this season. If he wins today he will have a 2 year exemption.

In 2028 they will have two divisions, and no sponsors exemptions or anything. Seems like there is no way they could let a player like Koivun into a Championship tournament, but maybe events in the Challenger's division?

Seems less fun, but at least he would be automatically qualified.

I'm afraid Scheffler is going to come back and win. Would love to see Koivan take this one.

Aren't the Champions and Challenger names a little misleading, with Champions being basically the current PGA top tier players and Challengers being what is now Korn Ferry?

That was awesome. Imagine being 21 years old, in your third PGA tournament ever, have Scheffler right behind you and you play bogey free golf the final round.
Impressive as hell

He's a really great putter. Hope he can keep it up. He might want to tone down his swing a little however, in the interest of longevity. Look what happened to Tiger's back.

Two year exemption for Jackson Koivin. Plus, he will now go to the Master’s, PGA, and he is now #70 on the FedEx Playoffs, right now.

Its very confusing, especially with the existence of The Champions Tour, for Seniors.

The announcement said the Champions division would just be 130 players. So, smaller than the current tour. But there is a slot for everyone at every tournament they want to play. No more earning yout card but not being able to get into a tournament.

But its not clear how they will treat players like Koivun

Very impressed by the kid. But I think we all know what happens next. Misses the cut next tourney or two. And I agree about his overly aggressive swing. Back injury in future. I called that with Tiger years ago
