Stopped off for a burger after golf and this older couple was at the next table.
A young kid (asst manager) came over and said he understood they’d complained about not automatically getting the senior discount. He apologized and said they are happy to give it but do not automatically offer it because some people have gotten upset if they staff assumes the customers are eligible.

This older man wouldn’t let it go - rude as hell to the kid and claiming Culver’s just wanted to rip off senior citizens, how he was going to call the owner, etc etc.

Two questions-

1. Why are so many older people such jerks?
2. Is there any situation in which this would bother you?

I don’t get it.

Often old people feel marginalized. Like other said above.

we all will hopefully get there. Many change with the aging process. Let’s hope we all find out by getting old.

I see rich people do it with intimidation also. They have no worries because they are loaded and some unload on everybody.

Being old doesn't excuse one for being an *******, IMO. People of all ages often feel marginalized for one reason or another, doesn't mean they can berate a low wage FF worker thats trying to make something right.

That was just Tenaciois QuixotE starting drama again. He kindly explained to the assistant manager that he was a normie and the assistant manager should straighten up, so he could fit in with all the other folks who were throwing irrational fits. Then he sped off in his practical SUV shouting “Maseratis suck!”

My grandpa was one of the best guys you'd ever meet, but when he was in his 80s and something irked him, he wouldnt let it go. It embarrassed all of us with him. We'd have to go up and apologize after. It was bizarre and started out of nowhere.
Now you’re the only one left to embarrass the family.

I've certainly never seen a young street urchin act like that.

I don’t get it.

Maybe he should train his staff to ask folks do they have any coupons or discounts when ringing it up

Or maybe have a prominent sign displayed saying discount for seniors

If a senior has to ask if you give a discount then you are doing a poor job in your advertising

Avoid petty stuff like this by good management

BTW I like the Culver menu

Fish sandwiches are great and the 10 jumbo shrimp do it for me

If the management is sharp when something like that happens the manager will have a discount ticket like double off on next trip in

Turn the lemon into lemonade dude

Called human skills and good management

Sounds like the manager needs some help getting to help with his people skills

A little more on this

Yes being grouchy and rhude is not very endearing

Sometimes the old codgers just feel bad or having really serious health issues or concerns

Again some empathy works wonders

Us seniors feel like so many of you younger folks feel entitled like you deserve to inherit something

Get out and earn dudes
Yes, I'm sure you do feel that way. But you've already established you live in an alternative reality than the rest of us. I put myself through college and med school. And my story isn't unique. Your generation has overseen the largest wealth redistribution to the wealthiest among us. You have actively made it harder for everyone after you. Acknowledging that fact isn't what "entitled" means.

Boomers are huge babies.
The day I moved to CLT NC I went to the Park Road Chick-fila to get some food after a long day moving. I was going through the drive through and something was going on with the car in front of me. I saw a man arguing with the young lady working the drive through.
it was going on for about 2 minutes and my wife and I were shocked at what we were witnessing, we got out of the drive through line and pulled in to just order inside.
After we walk in and get in line, this white, boomer man, came storming through the door and proceeded to yell for like 3 minutes straight, cussing just making an out and out scene. IT was so embarrassing watching this man child have a tantrum. He was your typical rich banker executive living in south Charlotte.

I didn’t see the interaction at the counter so don’t know how it went down. Either way, the assistant manager was apologizing and the old fart wasn’t having it. He wouldn’t let it go and made it personal.

I found the kid before I left and told him I didn’t want to see him get in trouble and offered to give his manager a call to back him up. He thanked me and said he’d already called the head manager to let him know. The young kid was doing everything right IMO. The old man was just an ***.

Stop making stuff up in your head then. Thats a you problem. My grandpa also thought that as he aged, all while his entire family encouraged him and my grandma to spend/donate every dime they had.

Id apply this to FF workers as well. They dont have a fun job making 12.50 an hr. Probably best not treating them like **** for going by store policy.

Probably time for you to head out to the porch and scream at kids for being by your lawn.
