Injury appears to be signifiant. More than just in a walking boot.

2 week calf sprain and should be good as new.

Williams was one of the best players in workout these past weeks. Along with Willcher and Brown.

Payday was also a major surprise. Might be fighting for rotation minutes.

I would offer this starting lineup to date

PG Del Jones (6-3, 187)

2G Simeon Wilcher (6-4, 200)

SF Rodney Brown (6-6, 180)

PF Devin Williams (6-10, 205)

C Terry Copeland (6-9, 225)

Hope its a strain and not an ankle sprain

Hope it’s just a sprain, as Dan eluded Williams could be the starting 4 and I view him as the backup 5 when we play small ball

According to ChatGPT, you would be wrong. It would be unnecessary and counterproductive to use a scooter for a MINOR strain

Seton Hall puts the walking boot on people constantly for any lower leg, ankle or foot injury. We've seen dozens of players in walking boots over the years The scooter is something new. Usually only see that post-surgery or in a more severe injury. Could just be a precaution.

That said, SH does not have a good history of being open or honest about injuries so we really have no idea. Hopefully what Dan has heard is true because with him injured, we don't have any PFs in practice. Williams injured, Nwuli gone, Mariano M.I.A. and only 2 available 5's. We need to add a 4/5.

I'd start Parker.

Is this five better than last year's 20-win team..... at the end of the season? At the beginning of last season?
Is it a ten-win BE team?

Generally, that is true, as the scooter helps immobilize the person, which is benefit only for a moderate or severe strain. That said, leave the medical attention to the doctor and pt.
PT here. Hopefully they don’t just throw him back to the wolves after 2 weeks. There is a gradual build up to loading the injured tissue that needs to happen before asking it to take on the forces that are required to fully participate in full speed collegiate basketball.

Idk if they are better but they are more talented. The Big East should be much improved from top to bottom, so 10-10 would be considered a very good season, imo.

Mariano is not MIA, the players are going back home for a month and Petrovic and Mariano will be on campus when everyone returns.

regarding the skepticism regarding the Williams injury…. Devin Williams himself told me the same thing (minor calf sprain, 2 week recovery) at the TBT pre game event. So please spare us with the tinfoil theories

Despite their commitments the NCAA has not ruled on their eligibility so neither player has been on campus. The Pirates fully believe that will not be an issue so we have to wait.

The NCAA has a reputation for taking a longer time than necessary to rule on these matters.

Btw, Stanton has been out of the Yankees line up since April with a calf strain. So the severity of these injuries can be highly variable. Of course Stanton is out of the Yankees lineup every year for various muscle type injuries.
Good point. Calf strains can be very tricky. They can also make one more prone to a serious Achilles injury if not recovered correctly. There have been a lot of high profile athletes with Achilles tendon ruptures in recent years.

Stanton is the walking paper machete doll. Never seen a guy get so many muscle strain injuries.

I play golf with a guy who is an ex-MLB pitcher who pitched for 11 seasons with 62 complete games and is now 84. He shakes his head at the injury rate of modern players. Back then he said they had a guy that was available to give you a “rub down and some pills”.

@Halldan Just want to be sure the same equality of judgment will reach this poster as reached @shu67, since he has repeatedly been warned to stop the ad hominem attacks against people he disagrees with but can’t seem to do it.

Why must you continuously ignore JD's and my warnings on language?

You leave us no choice and you will be suspended for 2 weeks. I hope when you come back you temper your language.
