My guess is that these types of ratings would somewhat continue, within reason, if the best players in the world continued to play in the US in club league play.
The issue is that we're about to go to no afternoon or night elite level soccer for years.
NBC has to step up their promotion of the premier league & the US needs to start bidding to get some regular season Premier League games in the US, just like we give them NFL games

There’s huge pushback from the European leagues & fans against playing league games overseas. And the fans over there have a lot more power than fans here do because those are not truly free countries. Business & people just do not have the same freedoms they do here.

Aww naww Desoto, got to be more Gunsmoke fans than USM Eagle fans (no offense intended Maroon Eagle). After all Gunsmoke is on 24/7/365 on it's own dedicated Gunsmoke channel
I remember reading an article on Yahoo sports about 15 years ago saying that soccer would eventually be more popular than football in the US. Well even with these outstanding numbers that's nowhere close to happening if you look at the Super Bowl audience.
OP says 66M, you say 6B. Super Bowl is 150-200M. What am I missing here.
There's only 8B people on the planet, and guarantee you 75% of them were not watching the World Cup Final.
66MM USA viewers for the final. 6B viewers worldwide for the entire tournament, not just the final.
Nothing will ever top the NFL in the United States. The NFL is to Americans what soccer is to the rest of the world; our sporting obsession. However, you have to remember that every other professional sport in the US has about a 100 year head start on soccer in this country. Other than a small blip in the late 70s and early 80s, when Pele came to play for the New York Cosmos, professional soccer didn't exist in this country until the 90s. It's catching up quickly. Who knows? Maybe in 75-100 years, it will be the second most popular sport behind the NFL.

That's still BS, you can't compare the total for a whole tournament of 104 games to one Super Bowl. And the post I responded to specifically said the Final.
It is, but worldwide I bet 10 times as many people watched the World Cup Final as watched the Super Bowl.
I can guarantee across the world more people watched the World Cup final than the Super Bowl. It’s obviously not 6 billion but it can easily be over a billion.
In 2022, 1.4 billion people watched the final. I'm sure it will be more for 2026.
