Iowa Football player development

The difference is , check the star rating and rank of each player coming out of high school, then ended up being an all American. Five stars for a lot of these programs. Iowa is the best at player development.
Well, okay, but it wasn’t until recently that the college football playoffs expanded from four teams to its current format. And Iowa was literally inches from making an appearance in 2015, so I don’t know if that implied standard is all that fair (currently). Now, if within the next…I don’t know…1-4 seasons Iowa still has not punched their ticket at least once, then IMO that would be disappointing.
The fact Iowa has more All Americans than LSU, Michigan, Georgia, Texas, Clemson, and Texas A&M is remarkable. Every team in that top ten list makes perfect sense, given annual recruiting rankings, with the exception of one…Iowa.
What is Iowa’s annual recruiting ranking on average…30s? 40s? It sure as hell is nowhere near the top 25.
And yet they are in the top 5 for producing All Americans. Remarkable. (If only Iowa had some semblance of an offense from ‘21-‘25

We were within inches last year as well. A win over either Indiana or Oregon would have put us in most likely.

Looks good, and really happy to See Jay Norvell back in the fold as well.
Think they would have needed the ISU/USC game to make the playoff last year. Inches in that Wetjen catch though against USC.
Hopefully the consensus AA streak can continue this year. The hawks have had at least 1 consensus AA since 2019.
Maybe. I think knocking off either Indiana or Oregon would have tipped the scales.
