A HUGE WORLD CUP WIN FOR AMERICA

Greatest most profitable World Cup ever with 48 nations competing on 114 matches over 6 weeks in the three major North American countries of Canada, Mexico and USA bringing in an estimated 9 billion in profits for the FIFA and has exposed soccer or Futbol to the American market in a huge way.

Final match having hugely successful halftime show showing folks like the NFL Super Bowl how to do it .

With the huge profits to the FIFA there was a huge massive profit stream to all the people and companies working with the World Cup.

This sponsorship with the resulting tourism and huge visitation of tourists from all over the world has showcased the GOLDEN AMERICA as there is a saying of BELIEVE WHAT YOUR EYES SEE

The woke folks narrative on America was totally destroyed.

FOREIGN VISITORS LOVED WHAT THEY SAW AND EXPERIENCED

A huge win for Americans.

THANK YOU TRUMP

If the Trump Admin had anything to do with the planning of the world cup, it would end up like the reflecting pool.

The World Cup was successful in spite of Trump's antics. Even had to kick his goofy *** off the stage.
Might want to look into it a little.

Not sure why this is a shock. I've spent time in the Middle East, Asia, and South America, and one thing I've come to realize is 'Merica is still an incredible country. Most visitors leave impressed by the people, the diversity, the infrastructure (the foreigner Costco videos alone were hilarious), and the opportunities here.

Our politics are a mess...that's what gets blasted on TV and social media. But our way of life, our communities and the overwhelming majority of Americans are not. Most visitors don't go home talking about Congress or Twitter or X...whatever its called. They talk about how friendly people were, how much there was to do, and how much they enjoyed the experience. Trump didn't make that happen. We did.

"United bid 2018".

Believe it or not, trump did lead a diplomatic effort to get the tournament brought to North America.

I actually really did enjoy increasing the number of teams and doing a multi nation bid. I think it actually helps smaller countries get involved and be able to host some. Very few nations can have enough sites to host, but have multi nation bids allows some smaller countries to host a few games.

I personally am fully capable of both being glad about something he's done, and still hate the way he attempts to make everything about himself. Whatever amount of involvement he had, I was glad to host and am thankful we did, so good job on that by him if so.

There's little evidence Trump had anything to do with this. A quick research says the decision was because US and Mexico already had huge stadiums to host multiple games and that FIFA saw the US as a huge new market to be tapped. Europe is basically already maxed out so the US is the most common sense market to go after next.

It's no different than those completely bumbfuzzled as to why he was there despite both precidence and other world leaders also in attendence. That vs simply recognizing him being there isn't the same as him then trying to, per usual, make it about himself. In otherwords, you have the triggered masses losing their minds of him being on stage (unable to enjoy the presentation)

vs normal people who simple looked at Trump and went...

Here's the time line from what I can google up.

- The United Bid (U.S., Canada, Mexico) was developed over several years by the three soccer federations, FIFA officials, city organizers, and bid committees. The bid emphasized existing world-class stadiums, transportation, hotel capacity, commercial potential, and the ability to stage the first 48-team World Cup with relatively little new construction. Those factors were the backbone of the winning bid.

- In April 2018, President Trump publicly endorsed the bid and pressured allies to support it, even tweeting that countries receiving U.S. support should back the North American bid. That tweet actually drew criticism from some soccer observers, who worried it could hurt rather than help the bid diplomatically.

- On June 13, 2018, FIFA members voted 134-65 in favor of the United Bid over Morocco. FIFA's own evaluation rated the United Bid significantly higher, largely because of infrastructure, financial guarantees, and revenue projections.

Sounds like a country's President simply doing his job...nothing more, nothing less.

I'll look into this to get accurate, current details rather than relying on the forum posts alone. Here's a fuller, sourced picture of Trump's actual involvement, separate from the forum's back-and-forth:

**The 2018 bid process**
The joint "United Bid" from the US, Canada, and Mexico was built over years by the three soccer federations and bid committees, emphasizing existing stadiums, infrastructure, and revenue projections — that's what FIFA's own evaluation weighted most heavily. Trump's specific contributions during his first term were:
- Publicly tweeting support and warning that countries relying on U.S. support should back the bid, a comment that prompted soccer's governing body to refer to guidelines that warn against political influence over bids, and which some soccer officials, like the German federation president, said hurt the bid more than they helped it.
- Publicly pressing Nigeria and other African nations for support during a Rose Garden appearance with Nigeria's president.
- Sending letters to FIFA reassuring the organization that foreign teams and fans would not have trouble traveling to the United States, addressing concerns his own travel/visa policies raised.

FIFA members voted 134–65 for the United Bid over Morocco on June 13, 2018 — while Trump was in office, but with the win driven mainly by infrastructure and financial guarantees rather than his lobbying specifically.

**The hosting era (2025–2026)**
Because Trump returned to office before the tournament, he's had a second, more direct hand in it:
- He put an ally, Andrew Giuliani, in charge of a White House task force on the World Cup, and convened that task force with FIFA and administration officials to plan the event.
- He received the inaugural FIFA Peace Prize from Gianni Infantino at the World Cup draw in Washington in December 2025.
- He was expected to feature prominently at the December 2025 draw ceremony in Washington.
- FIFA confirmed in advance that he would personally help hand the trophy to the winning captain at the final, alongside Infantino.

**The final, July 19, 2026**
Trump did appear at the final (Spain beat Argentina) and was heavily booed — both when his face appeared on stadium screens before kickoff and again as he walked onto the field afterward. He helped present medals; Infantino handed the actual trophy to Spain's captain, Rodri. Some coverage described Trump lingering on stage during Spain's celebration in a way Infantino appeared to try to redirect. This echoed a similar booed appearance at the Club World Cup final (Chelsea vs. PSG) in July 2025.

So the honest summary: his role in securing the bid is real but contested and secondary to the federations' work; his role in the actual 2026 hosting apparatus (task force, ceremonial presence, trophy presentation) has been substantial and higher-profile than the other two host nations' leaders; and his reception from the crowd at the final was notably hostile, not the triumphant moment the forum post describes.

You think other nations are going to Nigeria to shake babies and kiss hands while working with Fifa for a task force?

Or do you think maybe the guy who said "There is little evidence trump had anything to do with this"... may be a partisan hack?

Think through it. I believe in you.

You probably missed this, "Sounds like a country's President simply doing his job...nothing more, nothing less." I think Trump had a hand in it. I also think that if any other President was in office, they too would have had a hand in it. That's what a potential host nation leader should do. So, no, I do not believe Trump had nothing to do with it. I'm just not in the camp of going nuts over a person simply doing their job.

I also think Trump feels the need to be idolized, worshiped recognized or whatever for his hand in it. That shouldn't be hard for anyone to equally recognize. Oh, and I have zero problem with Trump being on stage. However, what he does once he's up there is certainly up for scrutiny.

Appreciate Trump doing his part to put America on the World Stage

That sir is an undeniable fact

Whether you like Trump or Not he brought the horse to the trough

The folks in America encouraged him to drink

So during a period of time when Trump was fighting with Mexico, calling them a sh thole country, claiming they were bringing rapists and murderers into the country, and trying to construct a massive wall between us and Mexico, which he massively failed at btw, you're trying to tell me that Trump was also diligently working with Mexico to make sure we both got the World Cup 8 years into the future when Trump had no idea he would even be president?

That makes zero sense.

Of course the government has to play a role but if we're talking about who organizes it, most of that responsibility is handled by FIFA in coordination with the United States Soccer Federation.

Spain is an amazing country, many Americans move there every year.

You have never left your trailer park before.
When I was there in May, there were Americans everywhere we went, so many it felt like they were the second largest population there. It was my second time visiting Barcelona and it's incredible of course but we also visited Madrid and I was blown away by how nice it was - hundreds of sidewalk cafes with people eating and drinking late into the night and spectacular architecture. You went to Barcelona right?
