The greatest coach there never was was a solid recruiter who put together classes of 3 and 4 star players year after year- with a 5 star or two when he could get them. His biggest rival was in the state to the west- and they had more money and landed 4 and 5 star recruits consistently.
While most coaches would only very rarely win in this situation- basically under the blind pig finding an acorn rule- the greatest coach there never was won several of those games, as well as winning most of his games against his weaker opponents.
