Thanks Don…Last night I was listening to the Shelby versus Asheville game in which Shelby eliminated Asheville.

The commentator said Cherryville would host Shelby, Friday evening at 7PM in a 1 game playoff for the Area IV championship. If you care to tune in type in WOHS radio or WCSL.

SIDE NOTE: last evening in the Shelby-Asheville game, Asheville was leading Shelby 5-4…Gage Camp, who I believe is a lineman on the Burns Bulldog football team, hit a 3-run-homer to put Shelby out front.

Gage is indeed a lineman for us. He's also a pitcher and first baseman for the baseball team

Shelby Post 82 has some athletes, including Burns fullback M.Davis.
They play at Cherryville in a one game AREA IV championship, tonight 7 PM.

Side Note: There have only been 22 no-hitters pitched by Gaston County American Legion teams in theie history which goes back at least to the 1930’s; and only 4 for Cherryville that’s known of.

On 6/29/26 Cherryville Post 100 pitcher Collin Chappell (Maiden High School) pitched a no-hitter against Shelby. So I look for Shelby to come in fired up.

The last no-hitter was in 2002 by Chris Mason for Post 100. Prior to that, the last 2 Cherryville no-hitters know of were both in the 1950’s.

Rowan eliminated High point, today, and will have a 1 game playoff for the Area lll championship, which will be held at Rowan’s field.

Haven't heard when this game will be played. If anyone hears anything, please post. Thanks.

If I’m reading this right, Rowan and Shelby are in quite a situation. If you win you have to play a few hours later…Course, I guess sand traps like this, along with juggling pitch counts, line-ups and how not to get tired out are all part of the tournament format.

Don, thank you so much for keeping us updated on the North Carolina state tournament. I’m hoping you’ll get to come back over and watch some of the southeastern tournament and some of the mid south tournament as well.

Wife needed me at home this week with health concerns. Hope to make it next week to the Regionals.
