There is no villain. It’s boring. Are there any rivalries out there? We had Patrick Reed vs the world for a minute. He’s not consistently good enough to move the needle. Bryson vs Koepka lasted 43 holes. All of today’s players seem to have come straight out of the country club finishing school. Do any of them smoke cigarettes and engage the fans during the round?
I’m not saying they aren’t amazing at golf.

Once the LIV collapse is final, I think the likely heels will be back and circulating.

You’ve got some quality heel candidates out there. Wyndham Clark, Patrick Reed, Tyrell Hatton, and, of course, DeChambeau. Shane Lowry has potential to be saucy and so does Rory when he gets poked a little. I liked Fitzpatrick giving his understated 17 you to the Harbor Town pricks.

Totally agree, in fact every sport needs a heel. The NFL is so much better when the Raiders are kickin' assses.

Tyrell Hatton is a nut.

I had forgotten that - good lookin' out.
I think the LIV experiment kind of opened their eyes to see that they needed to change some things for the good. The PGA Tour right now is a bit of a grind and I think it was starting to wear thin with a lot of players and that’s why you saw the LIV tour come along or at least a lot of interest from players in it.

It really does. There is no drama. I mean, just look at other sports. The NBA has Draymond Green, the NFL has the entire city of Philadelphia, MLB has that douchebag catcher for the Dodgers. Golf really should take notes from the WWE on how to properly develop bad guys.

Phil is another LIV tour heel, but he may have become such a heel that he will be canceled out of golf completely.

Sergio Garcia is a pretty big heel. Clark has apologized and recognized his behavior, and is at least trying to be better.

Golf had a nice run in the Tiger era, but like NASCAR, the glory days are over. The Masters had an 8.7 rating in 2015 but was 7.0 in 2026. If your marquee event is seeing a ratings drop that severe the sport is having some issues.

I'd like to see Cam Smith back on the PGA...He's not a "Heel" necessarily, but he is an unconventional golfer that would add another dynamic to the PGA.

If they will let me in I'll carry a 2x4 in my bag and make it more exciting. Plus viewers will get to see parts of the course they never knew existed. Like a backstage tour of all the majors.

No one has gotten the crowd into it properly since Boo Weekly aged out
Haven't thought about Boo in awhile until I saw him pop up on the senior tour coverage last Sunday. Reminded me of watching him ride his driver like a hobby horse after teeing off on the first hole of the 2008 Ryder Cup. Needless to say it played well in front of the home crowd. Nutty big ol' boy.

He's also an incredible beer drinker. I wish there were more like him.

Don't forget Koepka, who has already come back to the PGA.

But golf is supposed to be a gentleman's game, Tiger and a few others notwithstanding.

Golf is missing the interesting characters who made themselves into champions. Hagen and Sam Snead were a-holes. Hogan quit school after his father killed himself in front of the family. He worked as a newspaper boy until he discovered that caddies made better money. He learned the game and set out to be a player. Trevino hustled for change in West Texas. Sometimes he played using a Dr. Pepper bottle. Orville Moody learned the game in the army. Raymond Floyd hustled all over Texas to make a living. The PGA just doesn’t have this type of person anymore. Sad.

Wrong. Golf is going through a boom. Everyone always looks at TV ratings for popularity but that’s not how it should be viewed. When you tune in for the final round of a major do you know what most of your hardcore golf fans are doing? Playing golf. Fans can’t do that with other sports. Golf has a larger total economic impact than nba, mlb and nfl combined…
