The current landscape of what the program is turns away many former players, the anti-pro approach will obviously do that
What a comical post. The reason you don't see more is because most of our former players still young enough to contribute are still playing professionally. Majority of their contracts do not allow them to play in something like this, has absolutely ZERO to do with "the current landscape" of the program as you stated. This is simple to understand.

This is not accurate. Most TBT players are “still playing professionally.” That’s never been an impediment. The only players barred from playing are those with NBA contracts. Current pros in overseas leagues are fair game, and in fact that it is where TBT players typically come from.

We have no shortage of former players eligible to play, but for whatever reason fewer have chosen to participate this year.

There were several teams that couldn't play this year due to contract restraints for overseas contracts. It is definitely a thing. I understand only current NBA players "can't" play but I promise you majority of our former players can't play or they would.

Bought tickets behind the UK bench when they were released. Paid like 45 each. Sold them for like 100 each(think TM charged like 119 or something after tax/fees). I was shocked someone bought them so quickly.

Novelty that requires new interesting blood(players) to retain my interest.

I thought with a bigger prize pool and new format with a 3 game series vs Louisville that the player pool would be more exciting. I was wrong. Oh well, I’ll turn it on Saturday for a few if nothing else is going on.

So the La Familia isn’t even completely Familia anymore? Unless it’s completely going to Stein, Pass. It’s clearly a money grab at this point.

They need to offer the 2012 + 2015 guys about $10K each to participate, and a bonus for each win. I would pay to watch them beat up on Siva, Russ Smith, and Montrezl any day. But it's gotta be former Cats.

Yeah somebody bought tickets for me to go and seeing the roster fall apart as the week goes on has me thinking do I really want to watch a glorified pick up game. Now the silver lining would be getting to see memorial since the renovations in a game like atomospher.

Because the minute something goes wrong in the silly game, some detractor will rush to post "See, Pope Caynt Coach"

That’s what happens when you stop keeping up with the players that came through your program, no matter who you are as a coach. Popes failed. The enthusiasm is gone. Our former players don’t really want much to do with what’s happening right now our program. It takes work to keep the alumni engaged when they weren’t. Your players and pope is sitting on a gold mine.. each passing day, he slipped away it slipping away. I mean, I would’ve already set up having KAT in Lexington. SGA in Lexington. Set up something for them to engage with the community. That is gold when it comes to recruiting. Recruiting our former players under cal to be around the program should have been the first thing that Pope did.

La familia was and should have continued on as cals reference to former players at UK. To let that period pass all we got out of it was one title. It was all an investment into getting guys to the league and then that leads to easier recruiting. It’s upsetting that popes ego is pushing guys away. Like I said the investment.. as fans, we made big sacrifices to watch players use our facilities and go to the next level. The justification for that is that what was produced during that time should continue to yield like a residual almost.. but that’s not what happened. And to be honest, it’s sad because those players were just at Kentucky, and the team should be packed.

These games against UofL are fun to watch, but they gotta find a way to attract more former players.

That looks like a pretty good starting five. Marcus Lee and deandre liggins should be great additions. Wcs is great. I'd rather have a few UK players and a couple others that will play hard instead of former UK players that are millionaires and go out there half assing like bledsoe did.

Yeah the vast majority of our players are either too old. Wall and cousins, or still playing in the league or overseas.
