Sure…it could happen this year. If it’s so “easy” everyone would be doing it. Indiana caught “lightning in a bottle” and was fortunate that the transfer portal/NIL was available, otherwise it wouldn’t have occurred. Also, doesn’t hurt that they have a lot of rich alumni, including Mark Cuban.
Everyone is doing it...that is why schools fire coaches that don't produce the results that they want.

Or you have schools that have brainwashed their fanbase into thinking that there is no "pot of gold" out there.

Sure...but what you want is championships, right? I mean, you can admit that, right?

I have not tailgated at Kinnick but I have heard it is a really good time.
Of course, everyone wants to win the championship, but only one team does every season. So, by your “logic” only one fanbase every season has “fun”?

Hey dumbazz we had Ahman Green, Damion Benning and Clinton Childs we didn’t need LP.

Go back and look at the 95 Colorado and K- State games LP didn’t play in those games.

Stick to your Herkey history with Chuck Long and Tim Dwight, you know nothing about the 95 season.
Oh, there’s been many more convicts (or corn-victs) and low-life’s in husker history than just Lawrence Phillips…don’t sell yourself short.

So now you admit you want more than #8Wins???

Yes, by my logic and by the logic of anyone that likes sports, winning it all is fun. Not winning it all is not fun.

The moments of tailgating and hitting up the bars and hanging with your friends is fun.

It’s still all about “what have you done for me lately” in sports and I’ll take Iowa’s recent past over Nebraska’s. 😉
Of course you will. You slow blinking simpletons think you’re on a burner the last 10 years! Must be sad to have never been to the top of the mountain and also never expect to get to the top of the mountain #8 wins and loving it

Wait, you just said it doesn't matter though? Come on now. Stay consistent.
I said it apparently doesn't matter how you get players these days (portal, NIL, etc); however, character does matter. If a team has a bunch of players with character issues, they generally won’t be very good over the course of a season.

Good lord, 7.5 with that schedule??? Bet the house on the overs. Won't iowa be favored in every game but maybe 2???
You should make some big money on the Hawks then! I only see 5 wins on Nebraska’s schedule…so I’m betting the under on the 6 wins Vegas line.

I don’t think teams fire coaches willy-nilly anymore (as much as you think) due to all the large buyout clauses that coaches have.

You don’t have to come out and actually say it but it’s implied when you make the effort to come on our site and brag about beating us each year when we are in the worst stretch of football in our history as well as always saying your pretty good considering you’re winning8-9 games a year. Neither of those are a mindset of a program trying to win titles.
There’s not one husker fan I know that won’t admit we suck, have sucked for awhile and that iowa has our number in recent history. Now we are all waiting for you to admit you’re better than us but really pretty irrelevant in college football not only as we speak but in the past as well . Still waiting for you to tell us the 2 biggest title games you have played in since 1970?

I mean, James Franklin JUST got canned because PSU demands more...if he was the iowa coach you guys would have built him a statue after his 3rd season.

MSU fired their last 2 coaches after like 3 seasons each...

Michigan canned their coach after like 1 season

UF canned their coach after like 30 games. Auburn the same...LSU the same.

In my lifetime…I think Iowa’s two best teams were in 1985 and 2002. The 1985 team was ranked #1 for five weeks of that season. On 10/19/85, #1 ranked Iowa beat #2 ranked Michigan. Iowa went on to finish 10-2 with QB Chuck Long the runner-up to Bo Jackson in the closest Heisman race ever. In 2002, they finished 8-0 in conference, 11-2 overall, with QB Brad Banks finishing runner-up in the Heisman voting. From 2002 to 2004 Iowa finished season ranked #8 in final AP rankings for 3 consecutive years. I’m not saying that compares with Nebraska’s history, but not the irrelevant program that you think Iowa has been. With 138 FBS Division 1 teams and Iowa generally finishing in top 25, that’s certainly not an irrelevant program.

Regarding some of Iowa’s most memorable games…I already mentioned Iowa’s 1985 win over #2 Michigan when Iowa was ranked #1 in the nation. A 2008 win over #2 Penn State, which ruined the Nittany Lions national title hopes. A 2005 Capital One Bowl win over an LSU team coached by Nick Saban. A 2010 Orange Bowl win when #9 Iowa beat #10 Georgia Tech. A 2021 win of #3 Iowa beating #4 Penn State. My dad tells me about a 1957 Rose Bowl win…#3 Iowa beat #10 Oregon State. Also, since you Nebraska fans really like history…how can we forget Iowa’s 1939 7-6 win over #1 Notre Dame that likely cemented Nile Kinnick’s Heisman Trophy win. 😉

That kind of proves my point…what have many (most) of those programs really accomplished with all those coaching changes…other than spending a lot of $. Michigan State…really. 🙄

Well, good question!

Auburn has played in a title game in the last 20 years (I think)
MSU played in the playoffs
LSU won a natty or two in the last 20 years
Michigan won a natty
PSU has been kind of super lame because Franklin LOVES losing big games.
UF won 2 natties

1st off what is your lifetime record being a herky? would explain some of the reasons you know nothing about college football history.

2d, like I mentioned Nebraska has had 5 teams that didn’t win the National Championship that were better than the 2 or 3 herky teams you came up with. 1999 12-1 ranked 3rd in AP 2nd coaches,1993 11-1 ranked 3rd both polls, 1983 12-1 ranked 2nd both polls, 1982 12-1 ranked 3rd both polls,1984 10-2 ranked 3rd coach‘s 4th AP.

And since we’re doing life time frame, 1965 10-1 ranked 3rd for myself.
And daddy told you about 1957 Rose Bowl. How old is he?

And finally this is the first year they have 138 teams in FBS football.
Back in 1985 there was 104 teams in Div1 FBS in today’s world.

However, none of those teams won a national championship, which is your requirement for a “good” team…right?!?

I began watching/following Iowa football in the late 1970s. My dad passed away recently…so quit with your “daddy” comment you p*ssy.

Correct!

But they TRIED...that is the point. Instead of sitting on their hands being lame...they tried.

Like the famous line in Three O'Clock High...
