I love West Wing but they also made a separate joke about Mississippians being 2nd class citizens and we don't seem to mind. I believe it was Josh who said it to Donna in reference to a discussion about Puerto Rico

Donna does get after him about that though. Its a great show overall.

Its a show that is dramatized, but also intended to seem realistic.
If that is(was) a realistic viewpoint of many ignorant or snobby DC folk, then it made sense to reference that sort of insulting view in the show.

Oh, for sure and I know alot of those DC types on either side. It's certainly not unrealistic.

Being a state grad, I just remember those two quips. I also rewatch west wing from time to time
