I believe it's time for a change, but no need to hate someone that brought RU FB out of the darkness ( twice) just because he seems incapable of putting RU in bright lights.
Just thanks for what you've done to make the program better , but now you must leave because of what you failed to do as HC

It is fair to question, and to hope for better results.

Negatoids just complain for the sake of complaint! It’s their schtick!!

Schiano has made a silk purse from a sow’s ear. Hopefully, the new admin has and will give him the resources. If they do, Schiano will win a lot more games!!! And, in direct proportion to the money spent.

Sorry Negatoids, the problem ain’t Schiano, it’s you!

what you might say he accomplished is returning Rutgers to being bowl team (abet a minor one) after 7 years of missing out . No great shakes , but he did accomplish being among the half that made a bowl , when before RU was the other half.
During his G1 term , he gave Rutgers fans expectations of greatness and having them demand winning seasons from only hoping Rutgers might have a winning year next year and if not play well enough not to be trampled most games.
Of course I admit the program never reached the expeditions RU FB fans had gained with him as the HC and by the time he left the fanbase wasn't fully supportive of him.
So maybe the only thing he accomplished was building a program that its fanbase expected too win, instead of not losing its games too badly.

As G2 all he did was take a terrible program ( for the second time) and make it one that most fans feel is good enough to compete with the best, if it had a good gameday coach , in which Greg never shown he was capable of .

As for his salary , you get what you pay for,

We can whine all we want about what he makes, but among his Big 10 peers, Schiano looks like he's being paid the way his program preforms :
Finished 14th in conference in 2025 , 9th in 2024 and tied for 9th in conference wins in 2023 ( last year with 2 divisions in which Rutgers placed #5 in the 7 team East )

Greg needs to be replaced ,he did all he could and that has proved less than acceptable , but he did have this fanbase expect more because of him, rather then moan and groan about losing all the time and hope someday we'll be good.
He made it so Rutgers Football fans now demand that and anything less is unacceptable .
That , in itself, might be considered an accomplishment 😊

The only thing I have against Greg's salary is his contract being extended after only 4 years when it had 4 more years to go before it expired .

Good post that pretty much sums up where we are at. A lot of extreme views in both directions, but blended all together we’ve reached a 2026 season defining crossroad in terms of Greg’s future.

Can Kirk sustain the steady progress he’s shown over the past 2 seasons since GW was finally sent packing? Will it be crystal clear that despite the inexplicable delay in hiring a DC, in the end, we landed the right guy / staff to turn the defense around?

At the end of the day, fans can and will point fingers at the many past mistakes Greg’s made in frustration - but the 2 questions above will likely determine his fate for 2027 - not those things. And yeah, sure , if Iowa State’s stud defensive transfer from SD makes national highlights for a collection of explosive sacks (which could easily happen), Greg will deserve every bit of crap he’ll take on the fan boards about “what could’ve been”. Not making a decision earlier meant we were going to lose out on the best portal players in play from the team we hired from (where we no doubt would’ve been frontrunner) but also basically took ourselves out of play with the best of the rest defensive transfers too (who is choosing a program without knowing what D they will run). - nobody good.

This was a huge mistake - BUT, at the end of the day, if Johansen defies the odds and works magic to make the guys we have servicable anyway - it’s highly unlikely we’ll be starting from scratch in 2027 unless the offense significantly falls off. This, to me, is the reality of where we are - right or wrong.

It is what it is. There’s really no point harping on it. If the offense comes crashing and burning back to earth or the defense doesn’t show clear signs of life, Zinn is going to have to eat the cost and move on. I don’t care what she’s saying behind closed doors to pacify our higher roller donors who are ready for a change - I doubt Zinn is rooting for this outcome. Her job becomes way easier if we don’t have to absorb that cost and there’s justification to see what the current units can do with another year in 2027. I.e. money that can be spent elsewhere in reshaping the trajectory of athletics. The fact that Greg doesn’t “deserve” for only this to be the bar for him to “keep collecting” doesn’t really matter. If keeping the coaching in tact for 2027 looks more promising that what the coaching carousel of opportunities are in combo with wiping the slate clean - that will mean keeping him another year is best for RU. If not, then he should go. Really that simple.

What I find funny is the people calling others names and shouting down (being loudmouths) are the ones not backing up their position with data. Little less emotion and more logic could help your argument.

Oh my, …it is THE issue. We have always been cash (NIL) poor, so we can’t afford to hire 4 & 5 star players. That is why we can’t really compete.

The game has passed GS by. Sad to see, but it happens. Big red flags continue to be his awful management and hiring of his staff (and his reputation of being difficult to work for) and his poor gameday coaching. He will always underperform his resources.

Well written. Let’s see if there really is a miss on the SD edge rusher to ISU. He was ranked #79 in all Edge Rushers in the 2026 Transfer Portal Rankings . Our own Jordan Walker was ranked #40 when he left. Perhaps he over performs.

I say :Lea deserves a mulligan for his first 3 years there , just like many RU fans ( including me) give G1 for his first years at Rutgers because of the program he inherited from Shea
Clark Lea walked into a disaster and made it look good in 2025 (10-3) .
Lets see if he builds on that in 2026 or winds up like Schiano did in 2007 after having a 11-2 record in 2006.

Schiano 1 & 2 never came close to fulfilling the expectations Rutgers fans had after the 2006 season, Lets see if Lea can do better before we praise him as the Commodore's savior or condemn him because if the W-L record has has now.

In their dreams these negatoids think RU is gonna dump Schiano and hire a magician as head coach...one who can get loads of four and five star recruits to ignore the huge bags of money from rich schools with loads of assets and instead give RU a discount and come to Piscataway to play.
