She will be missed, share your thoughts and memories here…

Wasn't it 'Total Eclipse of the Heart'? Anyway, that song was ubiquitous for like two years. Absolute banger. Makes sense that it was written by Jim Steinman (wrote all of Meatloaf's big hits). Didn't follow her closely or anything but that song was definitely a part of the soundtrack of my youth. RIP.

RIP… very sad

I like “It’s a Heartache” a lot, but to me “Total Eclipse of the Heart” is the real classic (OP, you put “Sun” instead of “Heart” in the subject line BTW)

One of my favorite Internet videos of all time was of a cop trying to handcuff and arrest a drunk guy, which went like this:

Cop: Turn around.

Drunk: Every now and then, I get a little bit lonely, and you’re —

Cop: Turn around!

Drunk: Every now and then, I get a little bit tired —

Cop: TURN AROUND!

and so on :)

It also was part of the soundtrack of my high school years; the video in the MTV hey day also was memorable.

It was a surprise to me when I first learned that she was British. I thought "It's a Heartache" was a crossover Country song. Definitely has a unique voice made for power ballads.

I forget the year (1984?) and I am in charge of an engineering project to inspect and perform a survey on a natural gas pipeline suspension bridge over the Atchafalaya River, near Melville, LA.

We are doing the survey work (pipeline elevations and tower lean) in the early morning hours before the Louisiana sun exerts it's effect on the main cables so we're getting up around 2 am and driving nearly an hour to the bridge site.

It seemed to me that Total Eclipse of the Heart was played on the FM radio station every trip.

RIP, Bonnie Tyler.

I’m interested to learn what you saw near the Atchafalaya River before sunrise. 😳

Indeed a total eclipse of the sun puts us on the Dark Side of the Moon where everything under the sun is in tune, but the sun is eclipsed by the moon.
