Never had Checkers, so I can't place it. But I mostly agree with you. If we're talking FRESH AND HOT fries, then I put McD's at 1, CFA 2 and Arby's at 3.
Burger King's are damn near rock bottom for me. They suck.
No on CFA at #1. Waffle fries do not qualify.
Wendy's are good.
Bojangles is the GOAT, but you weirdos probably don't have them in Iowa
Edit: Five Guys are good too. They are actual real fries and you are over here liking waffle fries and curly fries. You probably eat them with that fry sauce shvt y'all have out there

What’s wrong with waffle fries? My only complaint with CFA is that in any box of waffle fries you get about 5 or 6 actual waffle fries and the rest of the box is just pieces and fragments.
I've always in the past liked Ore-Ida Zesties. Not the curly fries, the straight ones. But they tend to be difficult to find around these parts.
Maybe I’m just a purist. Unnatural French fry shape, salt often doesn’t stick well, the above mentioned complaint. I eat them on occasion. I don’t consider them top tier
You are correct about Utah. I also knew a girl from Idaho (I think) that dipped fries in straight mayo. She was not tiny. I lived in that general direction after Clemson
