Are dentists the most corrupt professionals out there?

I switched my girls' dentist out of sheer frustration with the office. I got a bill for $104 for I'm not sure what. it included a charge for nitrous that I didn't approve and was told would be credited to the bill. Another bill arrived yesterday and now I owe $135. I call to review the math and the lady answering the phone says the bills aren't submitted from their office. They go through a different office that I'm not allowed to call. So she can't explain why I owe $31 more after they credited $69 to my bill. They can **** all the way off.

The dentist down the street has 2 Porsches, two Mercedes, and an Aston Martin parked in front of his house.

no, I don’t use him.

You really gotta watch out for the clear aligner big hitters these days. Mercenary

The ones around us find so many “cavities” and want things done for substantial fees it’s nuts.

I am glad I am not the only one that feels this way about dentist. It seems like every time there is a laundry list of cavities, teeth cleaning, etc... for each kid and myself. It's annoying. Another one I feel the same way about is eye doctors. You go in to see an eye doctor you damn well better expect some new prescription glasses.

Your eyes change a lot during your lifetime. That one is probably pretty ok.

My podiatrist rolled up to the grocery store in a Porsche. Honestly, he is a douche. Probably a democrat too.

Did they give you pink eye?
I did have one who saw a dark spot on the inside of my eyeball and suggested I see a specialist since it might be cancer. A week later I finally got in to see him - a week filled with trepidation. It was the inside-the-eyeball equivalent of a freckle. Who knew you could have freckles on the inside of your eyeball.

But you feel better knowing for sure?

Guy I worked with was looking for a new dentist and took his wife and 3 kids in for a cleaning. Dentist told him they had like 100 cavities between the 5 of them. He fled, and at work the next day told me the story. I referred him to my dentist who they went and saw and viola, not one cavity. He signed up with them and I ended up with a $20 gift card for the referral.

What percentage of the time do you think the person on the other end of the call says, "What a birch", when they hang up?

We've always had good experiences with our family dentist, so I go with lawyers/attorneys. Not all, but most.

Few years back half of one of my back teeth just disintegrated. First dentist I went to covered by insurance took full set of X-rays, told me I had multiple cavities, was gonna have to do a root canal, etc. Took me to meet with the "payment specialist" who quoted me $2200.
Came home & my wife told me to call our old dentist that was now out of network. He looked, said "yeah I can fill that today, everything else looks fine. $200." He got our lifelong business that day.

In my late 20’s I switched dentist be aside of moving. Funny guy, he asked me early on if my old dentist built a house. He said most of your cavities are very shallow and he laughed. He was great but he retired

no dentist works on a Friday. I think it’s probably a better gig than being a MD considering you are not likely going to work weekends or get very many emergency calls.

I would sign up tomorrow for a robot dentist. I don’t trust any of them.

lol! Not enough? Most? Today was rough. It might be 100%. I’m shooting for less than 50% tomorrow.

I sympathize with what you say however in defense of the ridiculous dental fees and bill the cost of getting a degree. , opening a practice with modern equipment, hire qualified help , pay medical insurance and do all the other stuff to run a business makes it impossible to have cheap dental fees.

If we want cheap dental fees vote Mamdani in as the dental czar and we can all have perfect teeth or in realty NO TEETH when he does a socialist solution

This selling up is common in every business.

About 20 years ago my daughter moved into a house in Five Points in Columbia and wanted to get a burgler alarm installed. So she called up ADT that was running a three year contract with $100 install on typical house. Called ADT contractor who came in and said she needed $3500 additional stuff over the $100.

Called ADT corporate and the vendor did the job for $100.

Padding the bill as he was paid like $400 to install and he wanted that extra juice. Of course unethical. If also no legal.

Way the world is.
