This settles the debate on the merit of the red card. It was soft and FIFA responded as such.

Terrific news for the USMNT. Their chances go up considerably now, IMO.
Most knew it was a bad call, but I'm shocked that FIFA overturned it.

The chances go up, but considerably" is a stretch...maybe 3-4%, but I'll take anything we can get.

Given how rare overturning a suspension like this is, it's almost certainly a tacit admission that the original call was quite weak.

Regardless, in the end it's wonderful to see that justice was done and the U.S. will be at full strength.

I mean, we all know this was POTUS telling them to reverse it right? And really, no problem with it since FIFA is awful. But yeah, this wasn’t them correcting an error. Let’s be big boys about it. FIFA Peace Award Winner throwing around clout.

I’m surprised that he wasn’t blamed for the red card to begin with.

Well apparently Belguim is considering "all options" as they aren't happy
Yeah, gotta admit that this is a poor look for the Belgian team.

From The Athletic: "The Belgian federation said it was “astonished” by the decision, that it was in “direct contradiction” with the competition regulations and said it is exploring “all potential options”. The statement from the Royal Belgian Football Association (RBFA) continued: “In order to safeguard the legitimate rights of all participating teams and to protect the fundamental principles of fair play in our sport, both at this FIFA World Cup and at future editions of the tournament, the RBFA is investigating all potential options.”"

This penalty in no way effected their team or their play.

Its like whining that targeting was called off against tOSU player the game before they played PSU. I cant imagine PSU AD then lobbying officials to retrospectivley call targeting so player was out vs PSU.

I think Belgium is justifiably outraged given the statement released
I'm also thrilled for the US but would be livid if this was happening "against" the US instead of for us
