well, if we don't have police to arrest and prisons to hold, as proposed by some of our Democrat socialist candidates, then we won't have to pardon anyone

Saw a breakdown of pardons.

In the last 18 months trump has pardoned thousands but the key ones for him are around 85 that contributed a total of 140 some million to trump pacs.
For their " contributions" they were relieved of fines and penalties owed to the US Treasury totalling 1.4 billion.

So, great investment by the convicted felon splitting their 1.4 billion ...90% back to them with 10% to "the big guy".

Trump has turned pardon process into a new revenue stream for trump, inc.
Bilking taxpayers of 1.4 billion?...just another day for trump.

Mamdani-backed congressional candidate deleted social posts that supported abolishing police and prisons as well as seizing private property

Mamdani-Backed Congressional Candidates in 2026

2. Brad Lander – Former New York City Comptroller and longtime democratic socialist. He won the 10th District primary, defeating incumbent Rep. Dan Goldman, who had the backing of House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries CNBC+1. Lander is aligned with progressive economic policies and has previously endorsed Mamdani in mayoral races.
3. Darializa Avila Chevalier – A 32-year-old community organizer and DSA member. She narrowly defeated incumbent Rep. from AI..Yes, democratic socialists—most notably members of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA)—have actively proposed both defunding the police and abolishing prisons.

You group of deep thinkers will do exactly as I have posted before...either ignore candidates positions prior to running for office (they're evolved) or criticize their socialist views, and then March right into the voting booth and pull the "D"" lever. And you refer to the MAGA zealots as cultists

You get dumber by the day. You realize we have socialism already, right? Truman predicted people like you.
so we have socialism...here's a google description "Socialism is an economic and political philosophy advocating that the community or working class should collectively own and control the means of production (factories, land, and resources), rather than having them held privately for profit. Its primary goal is to reduce inequality and ensure wealth is distributed based on individual need."

So, last I checked, the working class does not own or control the means of production, and if I read a lot of the leftists posts on here, we don't have equality, nor is wealth distributed based on individual need, and for sure there is a seemingly collective complaint about profits.

I sometimes wonder if some of you took any economic or comparative economic systems classes...and I have been out of college a lot longer than most of you.

Imagine being such a cuck that you support Trump because one candidate somewhere posted some stupid tweets they later deleted because they realized they were stupid.

There will always be a stupid candidate somewhere. What Baltimore won't admit is that they stupidest candidate of them all somehow became president.

you just don't like having someone do just a little research on some of the things you post and point out that you might be incorrect in your opinions. Sorry, but I's prefer not to take a position based either or a party platform or the person who is president. You just don't seem ready to recognize that 1. all the problems of today are not new. they've been around for decades. And, 2 Trump is not the cause of all the problems in the US today

By the way, Biden was not the cause of all the problems in the US during his term either....

What is the DSAs meaning of defund?
the meaning of defund "To defund means to stop, withdraw, or significantly reduce financial support or funding for a program, organization, or activity. The term is frequently used in politics and public policy to describe the removal of government or corporate budgets from specific institutions."

Ok, now narrow it down for me. What is the DSA's specific stated stop, withdraw or reduce funding and what programs, organizations or activities have they preposed?

Trump is unlike any president we have ever had. He’s a massive issue. He has exploited every weakness in our country and has exploited them for personal gain and power. He raped children. He has stolen billions of OUR money. It will take decades to fix the damage he has caused. That has never been a thing before. The MAGA movement and corruption needs to end so we can go back to arguing plain policy instead of dealing with this corrupt administration. We aren’t in a both sides era. We are in a democratic republican vs. an authoritarian oligarchy time. A third of our country wants authoritarianism. You help carry water for them with your nonsense.

Link to her talking about nuking hurricanes? Link to her talking about whether a boat battery or sharks are more dangerous in the ocean. MAGA thinks he has common sense. That’s rich.

are you really serious? Politicians only speak in the generic...forget the most recent group of candidates for one second, let's talk Bernie Sanders or Donald Trump.....Bernie "tax billionaires"..ok tell me how: Trump, "I'm going to stop inflation on day 1" OK trell me how..

On your socialists, they're not going to tell us what specifically they'll cut or reduce. As soon as they do that, they designate whose ox is going to be gored, and that's lost votes. If you speak in generalities, you let everybody think what they want.

I wish some reporter or talking head would ask just what you did...."what specifically do you mean by defund the police?" But they never do

not carrying water for anybody. I'd just like you to be specific in your facts..for example, which $$$billions of our money has he stolen? From my perspective, I don't see where he's stolen anything directly from me. Admittedly I haven't gotten anything from not tax on tips or overtime, or the SS savings. But I don't consider that stolen, I never had it to begin with.

But, you might have something in mind that I don't, so you might be right.

Then using the term "defunding the police" like the sword of Damocles against democrats is kind of a waste of time.

Do you ever pay attention to the news of the day? You seriously can’t see where he steals and wastes our tax dollars, enriches himself, and lies about it? Start with the desecration of OUR White House. Then hop, skip and jump over to the Kennedy Center. Then hop, skip and jump to the Reflection Pool. Just for starters.

well it might be if the candidates were not using the terms as a differential in their candidacy.

I personally am not holding any sword over any candidates heads. A candidate makes statements he/she feels will appeal to contributors and voters, In reality, the vast majority of funds for local police come from state/local taxes, and beyond the purview of members of Congress. Only a small amount comes from the federal government mainly in the form of grants. This is one of those instances when asking "how will you impact the finding of local police?' so voters will understand how this might impact them.

The "sword ..reference (I'm not totally sure how that applies, but if you do, that's Ok) On the other hand a candidate that says he won't defund or will increase funding, likely appeals to a different contributor/voter.

For me personally, I'd look at the police budgets and make my own determination if reduced funding might be in order, then make a decision if I would support that position. More is not always better...
