Was killing time and decided to see what kind of old classic games for us they had up there, and the first option that popped up was the infamous 1984 game versus Navy.

your not kidding. I was only 4 during that game. Probably my earliest memory as a Gamecock fan. It’s been a rough 45 years. 😂

I was in my apartment at Coastal Carolina. It was a dreary and rainy day. Had we won at Navy, we would have been ranked #1 headed to Clemson.

Joe Morrison: nowhere near the strongest recruiter we ever had; but probably the 2nd best Head Coach, behind Spurrier, we ever had. Strategist, tactician, organizer and motivator. The one thing I remember he said after that game was "We are going to review our preparation for the game". I miss JoMo. He is appreciated more every season.

Worst part about that game is that Navy's best player Napoleon McCallum missed that game (injured, sick, not sure which one) he basically was their offense back then.

We couldn’t handle success.
They partied the night before because “it was only Navy”
I blame the coaches too.
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. (I have no knowledge of what happened!)

I was there. Went to every game that year with my parents. That was no bueno.
