Too early to know if he plays much or not.

I listened to the whole podcast on the way home from work. No surprise there — I’m probably the biggest Ramsey-ite around. The early marks on Williams have been positive but I think you’re taking some of the takes on this episode further than originally intended (including the 8-10 mpg projection by Zack). They clarified saying he has an exceptional body for a freshman and he’s highly skilled. They said they expect he will play, especially in the non-conference — that’s a DUH. I don’t think anyone knows whether he will play much when we get into conference play, because that will have to do with how many backup guard minutes are available, how much Mason progresses and how well Morton performs in his role. I hope Mason carves his way solidly into the rotation by year end — that would be a good sign IMO.

The kid is a winner you got to give him that cuz of the three high schools he attended the first one became state champions the second High School became the first ever in school history state champions the third High School the one where his dad was coach beat prolific prep which featured Nazr Anderson and Caleb Holt. In that game it is said that Mason WIlliams was the best player on the floor

Every 3 star player is tearing it up every preseason. Fluff article after fluff. The same pieces had Perry shooting 60% from 3, Cam Williams as dominating. Every year, same fluff. We won’t know till we see them play. These articles mean absolutely nothing. They are designed for clicks to sell .
So, you have watched a lot of Williams?

I’m not expecting much from him as a freshman, but he is physically developed and that shows me he works hard in the gym. If he can show some composure and mental toughness in the minutes he is given, that will be enough for me to be excited about his future.

So far I really like him. He said in an interview last week that he "wants to be known as the hardest worker to ever come to Kentucky". Don't know about you but that is music to my ears. That's way better than last season feeling like some of the guys quit on us at times...

Also, he was the best player on the floor last season when his team beat the #1 team Prolific Prep and he was playing against 5 stars Caleb Holt, Bruce Branch and Nasir Anderson. It was one game but still. I am very glad to have Mason in UK blue. And I'm very glad to have his dad as an Assistant Coach, they both seem like great people.

I hope that it works out for the good and Willinas ends up being the best guard in KY history in the end. but Trent Noah basically didn't miss a 3 according to practice reports last year as well.
It's a different world in game.

If you want to be negative you ignore that (UK fans know he was a four star by most rating services) and point to the lowest star rating for confirmation bias.

I love fans who default to being negative about our team and players. While pessimists probably live shorter lives, know you are loved, despite your curmudgeon tendencies.
No negativity at all let's be patience . Sunshine pumping can have a devastating effect on your psyche, if premonitions don't materialize into fruitions. Will be patient and hopeful here ,but I want to see the product on the floor before I do this

You call yourself "patient and hopeful"....why not call folks with a different opinion "positive and optimistic"? Half the board gets away with calling the other half "Sunshine Pumpers" and "Pope Slurpers" any time they want and it's BS

I like reading the encouraging and promising reports on Mason Williams. The son of a coach and former NBA player, it's seems automatic that he would be well-schooled in the game. I'm hoping he will have the kind of Freshman year that Tyler Ulis had as a back-up PG, except he may have enough size to play some SG, as well. I expect him to be a very focused and determined player, like I think Morton, McBride and Kepnang will be.

Nothing impatient about supporting our players and wishing the best. Nothing “pumper” about this thread. It’s the Nancy in you that sees it that way. 😎
