How about we talk about America's 250th and why we all love this country. I love America because there is no other country like it. We can complain. We can fight with each other. We can pretend we hate each other. But, in the end, most of us will have a beer or a cocktail with each other, despite our political differences. There is no other place on Earth like America. Appreciate her while she still stands.

BTW, I have to say Lee Greenwood and Drew Jacobs duet of God Bless the USA is pretty badass.

This country is by far the greatest. Not even close. You are free to assemble and protest and say anything and everything you want to and the government does not kill you….. (Iran). I hope patriotism off the charts on Saturday. America should be celebrated wildly for the world to see.

There is NO real communism in this world. N. Korea, Russia, China, Cuba etc are really dictatorships. Real communism is the government owning everything and the people all work for the government. People are all equal. The problem is does not work as we humans are competitive. We all want to be #1 and we all want more. Therefore a truly equal society will never work. What is going on in some large cities is experimental. Lets see how it plays out. Perhaps the citizens will be happy and perhaps not. That's why we have free elections. Or shall I say that is why we have had at least in the past free elections.

As we know it, I think the next few years will have a big impact. The demise of christendom has a great deal to do with the fraying. There must be a framework for a community to be functional; standards, order, integrity matter, and when too many people in the community ignore the standards, order, and integrity, then there is no community. The good sign is that there appears to be a significant increase in the youngs, particularly men, who are coming back to religion. God bless America.

I was 14 when we celebrated our 200th. We live in the greatest country on earth, regardless of your political preferences. I have faith that "we the people" will spurn this recent uptick in socialism/communism. The vast majority of Americans want nothing to do with those policies. Enjoy this 250th birthday everyone and God Bless America

I mean...if you think that spending 45 minutes once a week in a church, where most people are not listening, on their phones, or asking their parents if they can leave right after communion, is the answer...you are way off.

I think we have seen over the past few weeks that our government is not the people who make up the country. So many foreign vistors have raved about how awesome their experiences have been. If you judged America by what you saw on the news it would be the worst place on earth. If you judge it by who you interact with throughout the country its near the top.

You and I don't see eye to eye politically but we can agree on this point (probably for different reasons). The news is doom and gloom and we also have so many evil leaders who STOKE racism and hate. And the media is absolutely corrupt in this area (Always show white-on-black crime, almost NEVER show black-on-white crime, etc. I was in the media for 7 years and know this unwritten rule very well).

I know racial relations are becoming more strained in many cases - but dang... my entire life I've enjoyed being a part of, and seeing people from different races, religion and backgrounds get along, help each other, etc. Things are deteriorating because I am convinced a lot of powerful people want it to happen for a multitude of reasons.

It's a bummer.

And yet, this is STILL the strongest and greatest country on earth IMO. Lots of things to improve, but still #1 in my book. And listening to the World Cup fans from all over the planet come and rave about our country is inspiring!

City owned grocery stores? City taking over apartment buildings from owners as suggested by Mandami? Do you read ANY news? Next will be city or county owned “low cost” housing in the areas burned out in CA. It’s been proposed at the very least.

Not true. We just have seen the other side. We already have multiple socialist programs here. When you start talking about government takeover of privately owned housing and government owned grocery stores, that’s an escalation.

It’s still a great country. Many great people. The Islamists and Soros are doing their best to tear it apart.

Is there anything more socialist then giving farmers checks just for being a farmer? It makes me laugh reading people like you talk about how the sky is falling because of NYC, while ignoring the blatant socialism in your own community. So common in this country today. Everyone is fine with socialism until someone who they don't like benefits.

This country has problems, always has, always will, but it is still great, despite what the drama queens on all sides say.
