actually, I agree with you, especially the Russell uniforms from Spurrier's first year, they looked great in my opinion!I will likely be the minority here, but I liked when South Carolina had Russell Athletic uniforms
Absolutely.actually, I agree with you, especially the Russell uniforms from Spurrier's first year, they looked great in my opinion!
I still have a Russell backpack and I perceive that people look down on me because I'm stuck in the 80s.actually, I agree with you, especially the Russell uniforms from Spurrier's first year, they looked great in my opinion!

Will this make us play better?
Ok....maybe this guy without the Members Only. The Gatlin Brothers, really?
When I was a little kid, I was convinced PF Flyers were the key to fast running.Hey, when I was a kid, I was certain if I got a pair of Nike or Reebok shoes, I'd be much faster than I was in my Traxx.
Not sure if this is accurate, but I glanced at some tweet that stated South Carolina will take a loss of roughly 20 million in cash (Under Armour 24 million, but Nike only giving five million to South Carolina) however Nike is giving South Carolina nearly double in sports uniforms and equipment (70 million) I believe these numbers are based off of a ten-year period.I wonder why we switched? More money?
You and maybe 3 other people. Thankfully we've moved on to much better things. The Russell uniforms were terrible, just go back and look at those photos.I will likely be the minority here, but I liked when South Carolina had Russell Athletic uniforms
Some people think it will help us recruit better players, so perhaps. Will this make us play better?
in some years you are right especially during the Lou Holtz era. In my opinion, the looks of the unis had more to do with the style of the coach and not so much the manufacture. I thought the Russell uniforms looked great during Spurrier's first season, and during the some of the Joe Morrison years too and at least one of Sparky's years as well. You and maybe 3 other people. Yeah the Holtz uniforms were objectively terrible.in some years you are right especially during the Lou Holtz era. 60% of colleges use Nike stuff. I'm not sure there is much of a recruiting advantage there. Some people think it will help us recruit better players, so perhaps.
It was a tongue-in-cheek post. So many posters on the insiders forum are convinced Nike is the answer to a century of Gamecock prayers.60% of colleges use Nike stuff. I'm not sure there is much of a recruiting advantage there.

I remember the same thing being said (actually seriously) when UA came around. I think the best course would be to decide on a home uniform and an away uniform and stop the silly weekly fashion show. When Bama, UGA, Penn State, Michigan, LSU or Texas take the field, no one ever wonders what team they are. SC wears a different uniform combo for almost every game of the season. It was a tongue-in-cheek post. So Nike didn't ditch the official garnet pantone for red?It was a tongue-in-cheek post. So many posters on the insiders forum are convinced Nike is the answer to a century of Gamecock prayers.
That's because those are the most iconic programs in college football history. Everyone knows who they are because they win.I remember the same thing being said (actually seriously) when UA came around. The article calls it "crimson," but I think people make too much of minor changes in color being off from the "official" color. Generating the exact same hue and shade/tint across materials is nearly impossible. Cotton, polyester, oil paint, screen pixels, enamel, vinyl, etc. are all going to look just a little different without extraordinary effort. I'm happy with any "dark red" representing garnet so long as the helmets don't have that stupid looking script "Carolina" on them.So Nike didn't ditch the official garnet pantone for red?

The uniform worn by Sterling Sharpe in the first photo is my personal favorite. The last photo are the away uniforms from Spurrier's first season at South Carolina, which I also thought looked really good. Russell just couldn't pay a school millions of dollars, furthermore many within the fan bases also want brand name stuff. In my opinion these are the best which was provided from Russell Athletic. I will stipulate that Russell Athletic had lackluster uniforms during Coach Woods, Coach Scott and Coach Holtz years.
