A ridiculously funny film and truly one of a kind. I may go overboard on advertising my favorites, apologies, but this film is really a hit with me.

Followed by Slaughterhouse Five and A Little Romance. Three very different, but very fun films.

They missed putting in the movie one of the best thing's I ever saw in a hockey game. Jeff Carlson was in a fight, he had taken the other player through the penalty box door and was beating him with a microphone which was on.

Yes, directed by George Roy Hill.
Yes. They finish his run with The Little Drummer Girl (1984), of which I am not a fan of. Would have preferred that they swapped it for his final film, Funny Farm. I think I was in fourth grade when I saw A Little Romance, and developed A Little Crush on Diane Lane.

Does anyone know anyone who might have served as an extra in any of the following filming locations?

  • Johnstown, Pennsylvania: Served as the primary backdrop for the fictional "Charlestown". The 1st Summit Arena @ Cambria County War Memorial acted as the home rink for the Charlestown Chiefs.
  • Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania: Select scenes were filmed in the greater Pittsburgh area, including the Hyde Park neighborhood. [1, 2, 3, 4]

New York State Filming Locations
  • Utica: The Utica Memorial Auditorium was used to depict the "Peterborough" away game (where the infamous on-ice brawl occurs).
  • Syracuse: The Onondaga County War Memorial Arena was used to depict the "Hyannisport" game, featuring the Hanson Brothers charging into the stands.
  • Hamilton: Starr Rink at Colgate University was also used as one of the away arenas in the film.
  • Clinton: The Clinton Arena in Oneida County hosted additional hockey sequences. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Take a virtual tour of the iconic Johnstown filming locations with Hanson Brothers actor Steve Carlson:

On this note, remember Bayline? He was an extra in a Tony Scott film, Unstoppable, from 2010. Bayline, all he wanted from this board was to have a good time, he was nice to everyone. (For those of you who don’t know Bayline, he died in a car accident shortly after the movie came out.)

IIRC with his fiancé after leaving a Super Bowl party.

Is Mary Anne (who had a major crush on MRob) still amongst us ?

And then there was the female poster who was of extreme help for anyone visiting State College, but I don’t remember her name.

When I was interviewing for a job in Latrobe, I was being shown homes in Ligonier, one which was located in a development that had the home that was filmed as the fictional hockey team owner’s house. I recognized it instantly.

The closest thing to Bayline on this board, currently, is @Mr. Potter, imo. Very similar, actually, always trying to lift up people.

Wow!! Merely looking up this movie line got me a warning from Google

"You better get re-married again, or he's gonna have someone's cock in his mouth before you can say Jack Robinson"

Was wondering which HS bands were in the movie at the end. One was the Johnstown HS band and I think one was Portage High. There were one or two others (one with a big A on the unis--Altoona High?). And the trophy is the real Lockhart Cup, which the Philadelphia Firebirds won about the time the movie came out.
