Not that it matters, but that article mentions "should he be granted a waiver" in the context of wrestling another year. I thought he legit still had a year left, i.e. no need for a waiver. Either way, I'm not sure how many portal destinations he'll have after this.

...maybe he was just in extra exuberance after receiving notice of a new wrestling landing and was trying to get there prior to the offer expiring?...

Just not guilty by non-known association...

Very sad. I hope he can get help so that he stops hurting himself and others.

Who outside of his family defends this guy any more? He's been a POS since Stillwater and nothing has ever changed. Kid has never met humility or accountability yet. Should be in jail.
Plenty of folks on social media love his alpha male, never apologize, chest-thumping, zero self awareness approach. He’s the epitome of the modern manosphere which is quite popular again.

Absolutely hit the nail on the head. A hollow, performative version of masculinity (and Christianity) that’s a massive negative for society

Here’s a question for all you what-ifers; What do you think would happen if some genus/OSU Fan invented a Way-back machine and was also a Clinical Psychologist and went back to 2021 or even 2020 and counseled AJ to the point that he cured his ongoing pathologic self-destruction? What do you think a sane AJ’s chances were against the last five 197 champs (listed below)? Those last five scores are all very AJ like.

I do think the Way-back machine is more likely than AJ’s cure of being an idiot.

I can give you a win over any of the first four finalists (Dean, Warner, Bonaccorsi, and Sloan) but I just can't get there with Brooks, Hidlay, Buchanan, and Barr. Merrill? Maybe?

But it would have to be more than just curing the self-destructive streak (as if that isn't a heavy enough lift), he would also have to get better at wrestling. He is just too limited on offense to beat any of the latter four.

If I invented a Time Machine, AJ Ferrari wouldn’t be on the list of things I would go back to change.

Daton Fix’s head gear pull and JO’s takedown would be something I’d tackle, but AJ is the gift that keeps on giving where I wouldn’t change a thing.

Mentally well-adjusted AJ could beat Dean, Bonaccorsi (Italian-on-italian crime), and MAYBE Buchanan. I think Brooks and Barr were/are too good personally.

And let’s also be honest, you’d probably have to send a psychiatrist back to WELL before he got to OSU to work through whatever damage that upbringing did to his psyche.

When John Smith says you're too much and lets you go... That says everything.

Trash article and no one would put a name on it shocker. Acting like Angelo is an issue as well what a BS article. After AJ left Stillwater Oklahoma st was definitely still interested in Angelo. Whoever wrote this article doesn't know what they're talking about
I don't recall the article mentioning Angelo. I do recall the parents pulling all 3 out of Stillwater after AJ was kicked out of the university. Believe Anthony had been kicked off the Stillwater team prior. After blowing up the program why would Smith or Taylor want anything to do with any of them? The parents are the problem.

Well, Anthony was a major, major problem. AJ has a God complex and he can create serious problems accidently.

Gotta feel bad for Angelo. He has to deal with that circus and has seemingly risen above it, only to get hated on because he occasionally drops to a knee in a weight class full of guys who don't try to score anyway.

We must have different views of “occasionally”. Most wrestlers do it zero times. He does it a dozen times or more per match.

Did they edit the article after you posted this? Seems pretty much like it is just stating the facts of the situation and doesn't mention Angelo at all.

My take on the Ferrari's is that AJ and Andrew were major problems and glad to be rid of them but the main problem in that family is the father and if we had to sacrifice Angelo to get that family to leave it was a good bargain. I have never heard bad things about Angelo but then again he grew up in that same family so it would be hard to think he does not have at least some of the same traits as his brothers. Our wrestling program is better off with the whole family gone.

It says don't want anything to do with anyone in the wrestling family. Last I checked Angelo is in the family

That seems like a nit to pick in this whole saga. I've got zero doubt the staff was still interested in Angelo when AJ left. That was a long time ago and a lot has happened since then (including a new staff at OSU).
