What was he going to say, “my game was not being developed at UK”?

That’s the real reason he’s gone. He should have stayed anyway. Collected more money and been the second best player on the team.

Unless he thinks he can play in the NBA one day. If so then he should go to where he can be coached.
His game was being developed though.

He improved throughout his freshman season and took a fair leap as a sophomore and got lots of opportunities.

What he doesn't want to account for is that it is a serious hitch in the giddyap to take two full years off entirely from the game at 17 or 18 and probably it doesn't help a ton to start playing house halfway through the "comeback". Being a newlywed is going to take some hit on focus too.

Who would have guessed that pounding pavement around the globe prostalyzng for 10% of your whole existence does nothing for your handle and defensive awareness?

When The Blues Brothers successfully completed their Mission from God they still ended up in the penitentiary, those things have no guarantee of not having a heavy toll, ask the apostles too.
Even John who got off relatively easy was exiled.

Jesus, people. I’ve barely been on the internet today and even I know he cleared this up. These are quotes from his high school recruitment when Pope was the coach there.

To all appearances this is what it is. He can spin it any way he wants but it doesn't bode well for marital bliss in the future.
To all appearances? Marital psychoanalysis from people who have likely never met the couple. The experts on marital bliss. LOL

Must be a Mormon thing . He’s mad because and petty that his spot was gonna get taken this year . That’s why he transferd . BYU didn’t care about anything athletic until they got there new coach and Aj . I thought he “loved Kentucky “. Mark told him after he was done graduating he was gonna have to get a job and Collin didn’t like that so he went to byu thinking anyone gonna care to pick him up in the draft lol.

He improved very little. He just played a lot more so his numbers were better. He was a stand still shooter on offense and a gap jumper on defense.other then that he was very bad. That's not being harsh, it's being honest.

Developing is showing your ball handling is getting better and you can dribble when a defender is within 4 ft

I was so disappointed he transferred. He would have been a great player this year with Zoom as the point guard. I suspect his wife told him he was going back home. Women have the power in a marriage, otherwise, the marriage doesn’t last.

Good lord Colin just say your Mormon and you wanted to get back to Utah with your family. Not a bunch of nonsense about BYU basketball being bigger than UK basketball or some other gibberish. Then again he’s a young athlete not a public speaker.
Before everyone gets their panties in a wad, listen to what Colin actually said. I will assure you, the LDS family takes care of and cares more about their fellow LDS family members than not just us at UK but more about their own than any university in the country. I don't think his statement was a cut toward us but was stating a fact about his faith and family. I admire the kid for making the decision he did for his wife, and fellow LDS family members. I really doubt Colins playing talent had anything to do with his decision.

I just figured it was some combination of more money, better opportunities for minutes, getting closer to home, and being PW. Not a thing wrong with any of those reasons.

With Cal, we were conditioned to not grow attached to any freshman. Now with the new paradigm of NIL and transfer portal, we need to not get attached to any player no matter what class.

Some of you are, shall we say, a wee bit too sensitive about anything concerning UK.

CC seemed like a good kid who probably did about all he could here. He’s Mormon. His wife wanted to go back home. He’s getting paid. He didn’t insult UK or the fans. Don’t take it so personally.

That quote was from high school. It’s slow news this time of the year but this here is just made up ********. He went back home. Nothing to see. Best of luck to him.

He knows pope is in the way over his head. We have very little at the guard spot and he should have been a priority. He’s seen alll the worst of pope. Strike out on legit help in the back court. Let Lewis get away when he was gonna be needed. I don’t think we have looked like a program who knows or cares about winning since we hired pope. Our AD has done nothing other than hide until the 30th and try to steal from our athletics because everyone is asleep. As a UK fan the last several years our athletics haven’t cared about winning. It’s how much money can you make. If the last two were the only years i was at UK i would have similar perspective given our reputation as the all time greatest.when a program has a missing piece and they let one walk that can easily be percieved as not caring about winning. Let’s see with the new ad because he isn’t known for winning hes known to be a fundraising machine. That’s not what we needed we needed a winner someone who puts winning first. The fact we let colín get away shows how much pope will put in.

He’s just trying to play to the crowd, so I’m not going to take it personally like I’m sure some will. It does make him look kind of stupid though. Is it really that difficult or embarrassing to say something like “My wife and I have deep roots in Utah, and we’re happy to be home.” instead of something patently absurd like “Kentucky doesn’t care about basketball.”?
True, but it's a general lack of respect for UK in that statement as it infers.

I have no problem that he waited until marriage, that is actually commendable these days. I do think he is young and lets her dictate a lot of about their relationship though, like many men do. Happy wife, happy life. I’m sure he wanted to be back home as well, Utah is the epicenter of their lifestyle, hard to blame him.
Yeah. I wouldn’t even fly over Utah.

I was very surprised that he transferred. But, with he and his wife both being from Utah and Mormon, I can understand his decision. When you are married the decision is not just yours anymore, you have to take your wife’s feelings into account now. I have some family that are Mormon and I know that there’s a strong attraction for Mormons to be among their own people. I can understand this, I have a strong connection to be among people who believe like I do (my particular faith). I felt like there were some on the team that seemed to ignore CC on the court, didn’t pass him the ball when he was open and other times. I believe this played a big part in his decision to leave, just needed a fresh start. He’s a very good 4 year player that is probably better than Jeff Sheppard was at this stage. I hated to see him transfer.

Chandler went from a terrible overall player as a freshman to a solid SEC wing as a sophomore.

BYU probably offered comparable or more money than we were willing to offer. He weighed the options with his wife and decided BYU was more attractive.

If I understand this right his wife had already opened a business in Utah so it sounds like his option was either a physical separation until his college bb career was over or to transfer back home. I'm not looking to slam anyone over this but I think it is unfair to blame Pope's coaching or UK making a lowball offer. It just is what is sounds like to me.

UK's roster got a LOT of addition by subtraction for this next season before they landed the first new recruit. Watch and see the difference...

Utah is an awesome state to live in, I wouldn't live anywhere else now, I'm not Mormon, but they are great people.
It's beautiful and the outdoor opportunities are incredible. The entirestate could be a NP.

I was married in Ogden and have been out there a few times. Still have friends at Hill AFB. If I found work in Utah, I'd pack up the wagon and roll tomorrow.

I liked Chandler a lot and was hoping he would stay for year 3. But, those remarks sound really off and then to mention he was talking about his high school. That makes little sense for a college junior now 5 years removed from high school and coming from what many consider the best basketball school in the country. Now I'm glad he's gone.
Can't you read? He said he loved UK and the statement was not about UK.

Right. Live and let live. I’m sure his wife was lonely here.

Second, he was not referring to UK. I was surprised he came here in the first place. Compliment to CMP.

Why do some UK fans always want to pick a fight. Big inferiority complex showing.

No way he ends up better than Jeff Sheppard. Way too inconsistent.

We have upgraded the guards. Don’t think he would start here.

I came out here in 1980, I visit Kentucky, but I got use to the dry climate, and I'm always ready to come back to the mountains, desert, and Utah. My favorite trout lake is 9000 ft. They were working on the dam, and dug up a Wooly Mammoth, so we named it Mammoth Res.

I've been here almost 46 yrs, but I'm still a die hard Kentuckian at heart.

I thought the same way when I seen the comparison to Sheppard. Sheppard played a lot better defense then Chandler. But Chandler has a couple left to prove us wrong. I will watch him this year and see. I think Kentucky will be the better team, that he chose not to play for. Time will tell.

I disagree and most would. He made serious strides over his time here from where he started (not where he left off from High School, that guy got buried under two years of disuse).

I'm not saying he was transformed into Jordan or even Stockton. He was a better Collin Chandler than we received, by a lot.
