Lincolnton looked solid today. They have plenty of atheltes and their defense impressed me very much in the 7 on 7. I am sure the Lincolnton QB will be more dangerous as a running threat if the passing lanes get clogged. Lincolnton had some good numbers for thes scrimmage.

Who's up at QB for hickory this year I know almost the whole conference is starting new QBs except Foard and West iredell
HHS has a couple of good options. JB Young is a senoir and Wyatt Everman is a junior. Both are strong kids that can play defense as well. Young is accurate as he threw the same amount of tds as a sophmore on JV two years ago as he did incompletions, 31. Both are good baseball players as well and are best friends. It will be a good compettion for whoever gets the starting nod.
Just as a personal preference if both players are equal I would tend to go with the Junior so I get more continuity over the next two years

Carolina Varsity just put out their4A predictions and seems to think the west will come down to Burns, Hibriten, Maiden, or Stuart Cramer. With Pisgah, West Iredell, and Newton being in the next tier.
Maiden did what they wanted on offense, defense looked stronger on the perimeter than in the middle. Couple of double move routes caught the safeties off guard.
I know everyone says the QB is a question mark...but he'll be fine.
It's kind of hard to say because I feel like South Caldwell is going to run the ball. Kinda looked like they had big kids or small no between. They were using a lotta pre snap motion, moving kids around mostly I believe the TE. I think one issue with middle of defense was coaches trying to teach kids that if TE goes in motion that RB would probably be running behind him. So they are trying to teach kids to eye the RB and go for him. But in 7 on 7 no running back so TE was slipping open in middle. But in a game situation most likely it's gonna be a run play. I really think coaches using these 7 on 7 to teach and run our offense and defense. Instead of running deep TD routes and man to man or 2 deep to play 7 on 7 style football
You guys will be fine. I imagine an average Spartan team as of late. They had a lot of dropped passes. Defensively they ran cover 2 and 4...some cover 6. No man coverage that I remember. I feel like they'll give up a lot of points.
Middle school QB is a running back lol.. I know another school wanted him as running back. But at least important thing is y'all admitted to poaching a tiger. Technically a felony in certain circumstances

Two things pop out at me. I definitely think Burns should be in the top 5 and she thinks 3 teams from the East are better than anyone from the Westā¦.i donāt think soā¦
However this is just preseason and Deana does way more research than me and does a great job so I respect it.

We just hope to compete this year and not get blown out. Hopefully we can field a competitive team and pull off some wins
Out East id say Reidsville clear favorite with Eastern Wayne, West Craven and East Duplin in mix.

They are locked in but also highly overlooked. People out there still think we lost our starting DE to Crest and that alone tells me people do not have a clue what we have this year. Most of us have been waiting for this season for a long time.
I can promise you one thing, we know how much you have. We are in the same boat as far as usually being overlooked (with good reason until last year). We have also been looking forward to this year. These same 15-16 seniors who will start this year are the same 15-16 sophomores who started and went 2-8 that year.
I have no clue why people would overlook Burns. They almost beat Brevard and return nearly everyone.

We have a new QB to break in whether it be a kid from last year's team or the Freshman but he has one hell of a group around him regardless of which way they go. We have tough games to start out and 3 in conference so by playoff time I like our chances. We have to stay healthy.

Down compared to a Western Finals appearance? I can see that, but I feel that, even with our schedule, a 7-3 year is very attainable. We return most of our defense and OLine and 2 concrete offensive weapons. The offensive play calling will be tailored to our personnel.
Maiden fans typically are always more pessimistic on what we actually have year after year.
