But, fwiw, that was NOT the way it was viewed at the time with Joe B. A huge chunk of the fan base had turned on Joe B and very much wanted him gone by the end of his tenure. It wasn’t until well into his retirement that he became a beloved figure.THIS
I think you're gonna love year 3 brother. This team is gonna score points.Pitino.
I was born last half of Hall’s tenure. Too young for Sutton. Loved Rick. Cried the day he left.
Loved Tubby 98-99 and 2003-05. Frustrated with Tubby 00-02, tired of Tubby 06-07
BCG lost me at Gardner Webb and VMI had me ready to fire him.
Cal - loved Cal until 2021. St. Pete’s pissed me off and Oakland turned me against him
Pope - Loved the first year. Didn’t love the second.
The question was for each poster here what coach did we like start to finish. Mine were Joe B. and Pitino. I always liked Joe B. and never wavered on that. But, fwiw, that was NOT the way it was viewed at the time with Joe B. Pitino is the only UK coach I’ve known who never wore out his welcome during his time at UK. It wasn’t until his later ultimate betrayal (ie. joining UL) that we finally turned on him.
Felt like he kinda got the shaft and didn’t have admin support during his tenure. In hindsight it’s probably to his credit.I can't really think of a reason I ever bitched about Guy Morriss other than him bolting for Baylor. Certainly didn't love the guy, but I don't remember ever disliking him either
Oh, I know one. I can't show you though, because he's an attorney now and he would probably sue me for something.Show me someone that didn’t like Rick while he was here and I’ll show you an insufferable *******.
Pitino for sure, I liked Calipari most of his tenure. It was only at the end I started tiring of him because it was obvious he didn’t care about winning anymore. Not jumping on and off the bandwagon, you liked them from beginning to end?
I loved Tubby until after that 2005 loss. By then it was obvious he needed more talent and his refusal to change his staff and play the recruiting game it was time to go.Agree with a lot of what you say. Rupp was a living legend and loved by all the fans. It was sad the way he was forced out. Would love to have seen him have one more championship run then retire on his own terms. Pope, for me, is too early to totally give up on after just 2 years. I really want to see what he does with the current team before saying you're a failure. Pitino was great up to the flirtation with the NBA. Cal was fun and great until the last 5 years. I have respect for Tubby but he wasn't great. Those are the only ones I'll comment on.
It was for us all, dude was our coach K. The biggest what if ever imho.Rick Pitino. That was an incredible run. For me, it was a real kick in the stones when he left.
Poppa Brooks was the man.Rich Brooks - had he the support and money required for SEC championship football, wow, we can only dream...
Yep. If he had stayed , it would have been all about Coach P, not K.It was for us all, dude was our coach K. The biggest what if ever imho.
Nah he came so he could coach his kid and do so at a blue blood. So the only reason you think Mo came to KENTUCKY was so that his son could play backup PG?! LMFAO
Rick and Fran CurcciNot jumping on and off the bandwagon, you liked them from beginning to end?
Okay and?! Who wouldn’t take that deal?! Not sure I understand the issue.Nah he came so he could coach his kid and do so at a blue blood.
Coach Brooks is the blueprint for toughness despite the odds and how to retire in style.Rich Brooks - had he the support and money required for SEC championship football, wow, we can only dream...
The memory of him addressing the fan day crowd in the West End zone w a stinking bullhorn was proof.Felt like he kinda got the shaft and didn’t have admin support during his tenure. In hindsight it’s probably to his credit.
I think if he had stayed, it would happen anywayAlways wondered what if Pitino had stayed at UK. How many more titles would UK have. Hopefully he wouldn’t have brought the NCAA issues or his extramarital troubles.
I loved all of them as long as they were still UK's coach. The only ones I was happy to see leave were BG and Cal. I remember Rupp and my favorite was Joe B Hall.Ppl will hate me and im only 21 so I can say it, but I loved cal, not now obviously, but I never wanted him gone
