so- Stearns pitching staff last year was worst than his horrible pitching staff this year...lol

not busting on you- but just another Stearns failure
I didn't say that. I said the two are comparable. Because that's what the data says.

I deal in facts, not feelings. Except when I don't feel like it.

Actually, right now I am fine with inconsistency. By definition, inconsistent means you're good sometimes.

did you miss when i said it really wasn't on what you said...but it is about Stearns...The pitching has gone downhill off a cliff since he got here. he had his first full year where it seemed he rescued Seve and Manaea...and then we found out- it most likely had nothing to do with him because they both suck.

And then, last year- horror show pitching and he didn't do a single thing to fix it- the fact that on paper- it may look a little better than last year- we know that is a paper tiger.

So- not debating you- just pointing out- it is another Stearns failure

I thought Semien was supposed to be an upgrade defensively? We knew he wouldn't be much of a hitter, but now his defense is telling his bat, "hold my beer."

Vientos was trash at third and he's trash at first. Throw in a sh+tty bat for good measures.

2025: solid offense so-so defense, and poor pitching (starters). How does Stearns address the problems? Get rid of the solid offensive players because it's personal. Replace them with questionable players who can't hit or field or stay healthy. As for pitching, stick your head in the sand and hope for the best. 2026 in a nutshell.

Wow. 10-3 loss and then followed by 10-5 loss with 6 errors in the second game by the mets.
That had to be absolute torture for fans of the amazins that were in attendance.

Entire organization is a joke !

Stearns better be fired at the end of the year and why Mendoza wasn’t fired during the 12 game losing streak in April remains a head scratcher.

It wouldn’t shock me if Mendoza blamed the ground crew for the 6 errors !

Team has completely checked out and tuned out the clown manager last year !

PCA trade will haunt this organization for a very long time !

Mathis is the Cubs #13 prospect per MLB Pipeline. Seems like fair value for Peterson, who is a rental. Here is the preseason scouting report.

Back quite a few posts, we talked about starters. What we have left:

Nolan McClean (ace of the starters, young, still learning, iron out the rough spots)
Senga (not looking good, is there hope?)
Peralta (five inning Freddie-maybe workable?)
Manea (looking better lately?)
Holmes (probably Mets' second best pitcher- back in August)

Please comment, correct, etc.

On a brighter note, the bullpen has been pretty solid.

It's official: Eps > The Smirker

Bonehead Ruf trade and all
Not sure why you are focusing on that trade. It doesn't look like the Mets will ever miss any of the four players that they gave up.

Unlike the trade that Big East Phil mentioned. Can we all agree that we will never speak of that trade again? I mean ever? I guess that's too much to ask.

Funny thing is that I thought the trade that we would rue for the rest of our lives was Kelenic. You never know.

The Naquin trade was the really bad one. Hector Rodriguez about to be called up by the Reds and he looks pretty good.

Good deal to get Mathis.

Stearns should have fired Mendoza after the 12 game losing streak to switch things up so that's a huge mistake by him. He obviously doesn't hold much weight in the locker room.

It's McLean, not McClean. And Manaea, not Manea. Hey, you asked for corrections.

As far as comment: Assuming the Peterson trade is not a one-off, then Peralta was certainly be traded and will fetch more than Peterson. If Holmes is at least rehabbing by the deadline, he will likely be traded too.

Senga we're stuck with I think.

Christian Young should be back this weekend. Jonah Tong will I guess be called back up, although his AAA performance does not warrant it.

Don't let Stearns make any trades. Don't trust him. Somehow, Stearns screw it up like he did the team in less than a year.

You have a typo or two in your post (I typed out their names quickly ) , but moving on to substance- agree on Peralta.
Think Holmes is worth keeping, but that just my opinion and stuff.
Forgot about Young.
Really hope Senga can get it together.

The Ruf trade was when I officially checked out on Eps (like I have with Stearns). As a layman, if I could see in seconds that Ruf was the second coming of G1 WS 2015 Michael Cuddyer, the guy running the team also should have.

PS: As a reminder, my entire exposure to Ruf was watching one AB closely on my 'At Bat' app after the trade.

I've been a fan since 62 and can't remember a double header allowing 10 runs in each. Apathy on the part of the players and the fans kills the season....not to mention the S word: Stearns!
