Sam Hoiberg deserved no PT early in his career. He worked his tail off to turn himself into an all-conference player this year (5th year). Not a Kong apologist, but he recognized Sam’s contributions and stated so throughout the season.

Legitimate question, would Sam have ever reached his potential playing for any coach other than his Dad? I doubt it. I was pretty frustrated with his playing time in the early years, he was an offensive liability. Most P4 coaches would say "I don't have 4 years to let a guy develop on the court." I'm glad Fred did but anyone who says they saw his 25/26 season coming 2-3 years ago is short on credibility.
Like I said during the season, I give Fred great credit for not trying to make Sam into NU's point guard last year, even with every national talking head referring to Sam as a point guard. Even though Lawrence's production faded toward the end of the season, bringing him back to be NU's primary point guard was a great move. This allowed Sam to be this kind of positionless Dennis Rodman-type player who was disruptive on defense, got a lot of rebounds and steals, and got to the rim enough to be an offensive threat.

Anyone that watched Sam in his early years at Nebraska had to have questioned, “Is this kid D1 basketball caliber?” I know I did. So I don’t blame Kong for that take. I was happy as hell to see Sam’s story evolve into what it did this season. I’d argue that he will be the hardest player to replace next season.

Fair enough, Rick. But I guess I wasn't clear that King_WRONG attacked the Hoibergs personally. He took it beyond athletics, and that is why he must be taken to task for being wrong. Not just being wrong, but being wrong A LOT.
