Saw Nick at 55 this morning in the Athletic's latest mock. Golden State strikes me as a very good spot for a guy like Nick.
I think defense is also a concern and he is a below average passer. But he has far, far exceeded my expectations in college so who knows. Hoping he finds the right fit and keeps on improving.Maybe I'm wrong, but I feel some of the issue with Martinelli is that a lot of his best qualities aren't of interest to the NBA. No NBA team wants their young rotation player to be coming in taking a bunch of oddball but usually effective tough shot midrange looks. They don't want nearly ANYBODY taking those looks. He has other parts of his game that are of interest, but that's a big chunk of his skillset that's just not useful.
It's why I continue to be confident he's going to be super successful in Europe if the NBA doesn't work out (which it COULD, he has other good skills and attributes). If he's in a more primary scorer role and not dealing with Wemby types every game then that quirky but effective "get your own look from anywhere" game is once again hyper useful as a bigger, high-volume scoring wing
