His hamstring exploded, apparently.

You gotta be shiiting me. Again.

Brown was the ace/rock/stopper of the staff. He was the one guy they could rely on. Lose him for an extended period and it’s over.

They should absolutely not be buyers at the deadline. Their pitching situation is even worse than it was last season. Adding 1-2 rentals won’t put them over the hump.

They’ll probably sneak into the playoffs but simply don’t have the arms for an extended run (again).

42 years ago I was pouring concrete 10 hours a day, every day. I remember 43 years ago however...

" The muthe.vckers don't even work.. "

Best rant, ever. The Sandberg game was on a Saturday. Concrete men don't work weekends.

So this is great but I would prefer a little consistency from Swanson over two weeks of playing like Babe Ruth. The streakiness of guys like him, PCA and Happ will just drive you insane.

PCA's move upwards in the box appears to have made long lasting impacts. Happ should give up on hitting right handed. Dansby will suck again in a week. When his mobility and glove/arm go, he'll be useless.

I'm glad that Jed made a move to add to the pitching staff. The Cubs are adding David Peterson from the Mets for Cole Mathis, their 2nd round pick in 2024. Mathis has promise, but was drafted injured, and has been mostly injured for the Cubs.
Peterson is interesting in that the Mets are awful defensively, and pitching with the Cubs infield behind him that should knock a full run off of the ERA.

This feels just like last year. The Cubs are playing well, but gaining zero ground on the Brewers:

Last 10 games:

Brewers 7-3, W4
Cubs 7-3, W4

So frustrating. Now we’ve got Miz, Harrison and Woodruff vs. Rhea, Undecided and Undecided. A sweep would not surprise me at all.

Baby steps. They just need to hang around until they hopefully get some reinforcements. It's hard to count on Boyd, but maybe we get a useful Taillon back. A bottom of the rotation starter Taillon is useful. Jed needs to go get an arm, too. I am not hopeful that we see Cabrerra or Brown back. Not until September, anyway. I'm keeping my eyes on Will Sanders in AAA. He's rehabbing, and looks to be a competent BOR type of arm. He could be some internal help.
